Newcastle Linked With French Attacking Midfielder

According to today’s Sunday Sun Newcastle are interested in French-born Guinea attacking midfield star Kevin Constant.

Kevin Constant – 6′ tall attacking midfilder

The attacking midfielder who has just turned 23, is a free agent this summer.

He has played over 62 times with 58 starts and 13 goals for French Second Division side LB Chateauroux and the news is that the coach Jean-Pierre Papin wants the player to stay.

LB Chateauroux finished 16th of 20 teams in French Ligue 2, on 44 points, just 1 point above the relegation zone, so they struggled last season to stay in the French League.

A number of sides seem to be after him but  his agent, Aurelien Franckel has said the player would love to play in England:

“Teams from Italy, France and Turkey are keen on Kevin, but he wants to play in England,”

Kevin played 4 times for the France U-17 team but has 4 caps for the Guinea side, which he qualifies to play for through his mother.

The player was at Toulouse from 2006 through 2008 but played only 4 times for the first team there, and in January of 2008 was not allowed to play for Guinea in the African Cup of Nations by FIFA because of some passport problems.

With knowing so little about the player and not having seen him play, it’s hard to gauge what the player is like in terms of quality – assuming the story is true.

I dont really like judging players off youtube.

No professional football clubs would ever resort to that…

We’ll, you are no professional club;) Just linked it up here so WE could see his style of play.

If Newcastle have interest in him, they obviously have seen him play in real life. Which could be true as we seemingly have a few scouts in France.

For the record he looks a decent enough player and at 23 on a bosman its low risk

Im all for bringing in yuong foreign talent especially if they cost nothing, but only if it will improve the team.
This lad is 23, playing in the 2nd div in France and cant even get a regular place in the Guinea side,he,s had four caps,my granny got 9.
We,ve only been linked with him because he,ll cost nowt.
Yesterday i said, jokingly that i think we,ll be linked with 3,438 players from now til august, we are well on our way lol

I’ve seen him a few times and he seemed to me a cheap mans essien, from that video it didnt show his other qualitys which is his DM role he can play at, he can be a DM or an CM or even a AMC so is versitle and strong, no offense but the key to doing well in EPL from being promoted is to buy Strong/Tall players, we have quite good height as it is i feel this player for free can be as good as a signing as Bassong.

Here is a 10 minute video of him showing the defensive skills as well. He has some mistakes in the start, but he seems to have some good qualities. Both defensive and attacking. Could definitely turn out to be a smart buy like Bassong.

Very nice player. Could be another Bassong type player, like Newutd said above. He looks like a very good player and creative.

we shouldnt judge a player on 10 mins youtube clip, especially he played for lower division in France…. not even on a few matches performance, unless he is very impressive

he is welcome to join us on trial….Bassong came to us on trial and he used to play for France first division regularly
