Newcastle Pursue Juventus International Midfielder

News today in the Daily Star that Newcastle want to bring in Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen, on loan for next season.

Christian Poulsen – Newcastle interested in Juventus midfielder

Since it’s a loan deal we suspect that the age doesn’t matter and the 30 year-old central midfielder could provide some significant skills in the middle of the park for Newcastle next season in the Premiership.

It’s becoming clearer that Newcastle manager Chris Hughton will need to bring in loan signings and free agents to bolster the squad for next season,  and the news is that this is a player who is definitely  interesting Newcastle boss Chris Hughton.

Since Juventus failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League the thinking is that Newcastle could get the player from Juventus on a full season loan on Tyneside.

The Dane has played 71 times with 5 goals for his country and has previously played for Holbæk B&I, Copenhagen, Schalke 04 and Sevilla before moving to Juventus in 208, and has played around 430 first-class games in his career.

Christian has played 43 times for the Italian Giants, and has an aggressive style of play as a central midfielder, and cost Juventus £10M when he signed from Spanish Club Sevilla in the summer of 2008.

It seems to us that this player, who stands 6′ tall,  is top class, and better than what we have and is certainly the type of player that will improve the Newcastle squad.

There were reports in December of 2008 that Joe Kinnear was interested in bringing the player to Newcastle, so this is not the first time Newcastle have been linked with the player, and of course Chris Hughton was Joe’s assistant manager at the time so Hughton would  have been aware of the player at that time.

We have to hope this story has some truth to it.

Its a loan deal so don’t look at the age. He would be a good signing. Just the defensive type of midfielder we need. Can play Mid- or Def-. Very aggressive player and loves to tackle, excellent man marker. But, again its Sunday news might not believe.

We also have Peter Lovenkrands who could help persuade him to the black n’ white stripes. The great Danes.

Juve will have a new manager in the summer, might even be the spainish waiter from liverpool. Wouldn’t you think the player would want to wait & see what the new guys plans are? @4 the parent club often has to pay part of the loan players wages, if you can get someone to pay even half the wages of a player you don’t want & put him in the shop window its not bad business. I’ll bet we are paying some of xisco’s wages!

How does he fit our new policy? He is a shithead too. He’ll definitely “do his best” to ruin the moral in the team.

Latest rumours are that Juve are after Roy Hodgson for their next manager & Rafa is staying at Cessepool which as now got Gerrard looking to leave…. lol

Don’t you just love Sundays, especially when its your & you get up to read all this crap about your team!!!

Why would we need yet another defensive midfielder when Smithy did such a great job last year, yes we got rid of Butt & his wages would probably cover this guys loan but I can’t see it myself…

While we’re on the subject of money, have we still not got it over to the crap-loids that ‘No Capital Outlay’ doesn’t mean no spending, it just mean no ‘OVER-spending’ like what we use to do, I don’t know how these people think but I wish they would actually read some posts instead of just posting rubbish all the time!!!!

I have watched him a hundred times, both for the national team and for FC Copenhagen, Schalke and Sevilla and a few games for Juventus. He never ceases to impress me. He is a real hard man in the midfield but builds up the game well and is a real winner. Would be a great signing.

would be great signing but can’t see it happening. Surely we would have to pay a large chunk of his wages and he must be on about 60k a week

A loan deal sounds good. I’m sure he’ll add plenty of bite to our midfield.

A check on wiki shows he’s spat and kicked on Totti and Kaka respectively. He’s also punched Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg. We’ll take him! 😀

if he’s still hungry.. yes go for it.

but I’m not liking these loan signings. Have never really been able to “like” them as much as the “real” players.. just my personal opinion..

Poulsen is defensive though.. not really what we need, but he is better than Smith.. But then again, I would rather play smith as he is staying at Newcastle for the long run (as it seems at least)

Poulsen being 30yrs old doesnt matter in this case. As fit as he is, he keeps his game up for at least 4 more years. (if he signs permanently). he won’t fade away like Butt….
