Newcastle To Finish 10th In Premiership Next Season

Interesting news today on who are the favorites to win the English Premiership next season.

The latest betting odds for who will win the Premiership next season lists the teams with the following odds:

2.50 Chelsea
3.50 Manchester  Utd
8.00 Arsenal
9.00 Manchester  City
13.00 Liverpool
51.00 Tottenham
251.00 Aston Villa
251.00 Everton
1501.00 Sunderland
2001.00 Newcastle United
2001.00 Fulham
2501.00 West Ham United
2501.00 Birmingham
2501.00 Stoke City
5001.00 Blackburn Rovers
5001.00 Bolton Wanderers
7501.00 Wigan Athletic
7501.00 Wolves
10001.00 West Bromwich Albion

The only surprise there is how the heck are Sunderland listed above Newcastle? 😀

The other surprise is that West Brom are listed last – but the list only comprises 19 teams, with Cardiff City and Blackpool to fight it out at Wembley this coming Saturday for the 20th spot.

When that position is filled we expect all the major English papers to change their Premiership lists to include Newcastle and to be the 20 clubs in the Premiership for next season – and it’s goodbye to Burnley, Portsmouth and Hull City.

And you can bet that Blackpool or Cardiff  will be the 20th side listed above, so according to those betting odds above, Newcastle would seem likely to finish mid-table.

Let’s hope the betting is as good as it was last summer when Newcastle were the odds-on favorites to come straight back up – and that’s what the lads did – with considerable ease as it turned out.

If we were to pick the three teams who will be relegated next season, we would probably say Wigan, Wolves and either Cardiff or Blackpool.

Let’s know the three clubs you would choose to go down next year.

Howay The Lads!!

That’s really nice 10th place. That would be very nice. But put the mackems under us not in front.

I think West Brom, West Ham, and Wolves the 3 w’s. To get out. And possibly Wigan with those. 🙂

I think we are good enough for 8th. 10th is a bit of an insult if you ask me. The top 6 are too good unless the owner starts buying big time (but that will never happen. He is trying to pocket all the money from promotion) so we will never be a true force until he goes. Cannot wait.

You think 10th place for a club with no money that has just been promoted is an insult? Seriously?

The only thing we have in our favour is a big stadium. That’s it. It will be a miracle if we stay up. To say we can get 8th is an insult to sanity.

I see a struggle-surely these odds will change depending on who buys who and who adds more decent players.

Bookies odds never decide a season but at least it shows that they think we are going to be competitive and not the whipping boys.
Ile go for, Wolves, West Brom and Blackpool/Cardiff to go down.

I think us and West Brom have a very good chance next season, a season outside the Premier Leagues ‘crazy season’ has done us very well and tbh I would say the Top 8 in Championship and Bottom 8 in Prem are very similar and anyone could beat anyone out of those, on the basis of that i’ll go with us 12th

turkish magpie… thats a stupid comment…there is an absolute massive difference between the bottom 8 of the prem and the top 8 of the championship…as we found out last season? :S

SAMeobi- I really beg to differ, we had tough games from all the top 8 in the Champ and maybe i should say top 6 nd bottom 6 but there really isn’t much difference at all, could you see Cardiff beating Wigan? I sure could!

SAMeobi, I thin what Turkish Magpie is trying to say is the bottom 6 of the PL & the top 6 of the Chapionship are very alike….. not the top 6 & bottom 6 of the PL mate… lol

Personally if we finish 10th I’d be very shocked & stunned considering where we have been finishing these past several years since Sir Bob was booted out the club, we’ve been heading downwards ever since, so if we can jump back up to midtable on our return & be above the muckems, then that’ll do me tommy….. 🙂

Turkishmagpie – I agree, there is a point around 13th in the prem down to 6th in the CCC – and the teams are all pretty interchangeable. Then there are clubs like us and west ham which frankly shouldn’t be in that zone,, shame of it is I think we are 2 or 3 decent, technical (2-4mil) players away from getting a place in between 8th and 12th next season.
sigurdsson and gunter and o’hara let’s say with beckford and whittingham as frees innit.

If we continue to play the football we played last season all be it we got promoted, down to organization, & a fairly decent defence, bottom 6 or their about’s for me a hate to say, but i could be wrong…………….

Even without much money we have a much stronger side than any promoted since us in 1993.

We need tweaking with 4-5 coming in but only 2 or 3 as starters.

If the fat controller puts up just £5.5m or we raise it through selling Ameobi, Best and Xisco we could look like:

    –S Taylor–Williamson—Coloccini—-Enrique–

Subs: Krul, Senderos, R Taylor, Nolan, Guthrie, Smith, Lovenkrands, Dindane

    3 to go down:

Brum: Shite 1 season wonder, How a club that employs Carr, Barry Ferguson, Bowyer, Jerome, Ridgewell, Craig Gardner, O’Connor, Phillips, Vignal, Parnaby, David Murphy, Carsley, Quedrue and Marcus Bent finished in the top half is beyond me, League position is the most flattering in my lifetime and will plummet next time out.

West Brom: Crap defence, Overrated attack who scraped a good few points thank to dodgy penalties, Wont have as much posession in the prem, Wont get penalties at the big clubs, Wont score in the premiership and wont keep clean sheets in the prem = Whipping boys

    Blackpool/ Cardiff/ Wolves/Bolton, Wigan, Stoke (Time they were found out) = Sh1te

West Ham, Fulham and Blackburn are woefully average but i doubt they will be relegated

Now if there aint 3 teams worst than us in that list then we deserve to be relegated.

Much as I would love to finish us in the top half of the table, I feel just avoiding the bottom 3 should be the target. I know the popular opinion is that this is a lack of ambition, however, we have to be realistic, and see that the bubble has burst in football and simply maintaining our top flight status should be our only realistic ambition. Anything else is just a bonus.

Its nice to have ambition but being realistic we’re in a relegation scrap with:

    West Brom,

We don’t have Natural Premiership Goalscorers. We don’t have any Creativity in midfield.
Our defence is lacks Premiership quality.

Best we can hope for imo is 14th.
    Pessimistic i know.

Sorry to say but these odds are more likely a reflection of anticipated over-enthusiastic backing by fans of the Toon, rather than a realistic assessment by the bookies.

I’d be happy with a 10th place finish but unless we spend 15M+ we could be in the bottom 6.

    My bottom 6 are:

    15 – NUFC
    16 – Stoke
    17 – WBA
    18 -Wigan
    19 – Wolves
    20 – Blackpool/Cardiff

With a little money well spent we could finish above Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton, West Ham, etc

It would be nice to finish above Sunderland but don’t see it…….

Dont see why someone would look at those odds.. IE, someone to buy the club, spend 200k on those odds, buy the club and spent 150mil on players… And hope we win! If it were to happen, free club + players. Lol

I certainly think we can get above the Mackems and Everton, and possibly push Villa hard on these odds. Why not 8th or 7th? All depends on who CH manages to recruit. The versatile Joe Ledley would be a worthwhile acquisition if Cardiff miss promotion. We still need a couple of pacy and clever wingers imo. Poulson as a loan would be OK if he can keep his temper.
