Newcastle’s Alan Smith has today picked four players he thinks are the players of the season for Newcastle United.
Alan Smith – picks four players of the season
Alan was asked to pick his Newcastle player of the season this morning on the Newcastle official site, and he refused to pick one but listed four players he thinks would qualify for that award.
This is what Alan said:
” I’d love to be able to pick one but I’m going to name four.”
“First of all Kevin Nolan for the goals he scored from midfield and his overall contribution throughout the season, I think he only missed about two games.”
“Jose Enrique has been outstanding all year and his performances have been brilliant.”
“That’s the same with Fabricio Coloccini who has been excellent at the back and also chipped in with a couple of important goals.”
“And finally Andy Carroll, we needed someone to step up to the plate towards the end of the season with the goals and he did that.” “He’s still developing as a player but I think he deserves special mention for that he did in the second half of the year.”
We just closed our vote yesterday on player of the season and Jose Enrique won with 37% of the vote followed by Kevin Nolan with 31% of the vote and then Andy Carroll and Fabricio Coloccini tied for 3rd place with 7%.
It’s interesting those are the four that Alan names – but hey – maybe the were the best players for Newcastle last season after all!
