Is Fitz Hall Staying At Newcastle?

We’re not sure what the status is with Newcastle’s on-loan player from QPR – Fitz Hall.

Fitz Hall – is he staying at Newcastle?

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has said that the only two senior players leaving Newcastle this summer are Nicky Butt and Fabrice Pancrate, and that he wants to keep everybody else.

We’re nor sure if that was an oversight by Chris or that indeed he wants to keep Fitz Hall.

It looks like 29 year-old 6’4″ Fitz will be put up for sale by new QPR manager Neil Warnock, and if Newcastle want to sign him they will have to hope they can get him for £1M or less.

There is also a possibility of taking Fitz on loan again next season.

Fitz played well for Newcastle when he did play, and he does give some speed at the back for the Newcastle central defense, but he only appeared 6 times for Newcastle as he battled with hamstring injuries.

So we do have some concerns about his injury record.

And in our poll on whether Newcastle should sign Fitz 50% said yes and 46% said no – with the rest having no opinion. The poll had 601 total votes.

Fitz wouldn’t be a starter at Newcastle, but he did show last season that he could get the job done when brought in by Newcastle, but how he would fare in England’s top division next season is debatable.

It’s interesting also that you will not find Fitz Hall in Newcastle’s list of players on the official site – even though Nicky Butt and Fabrice Pancrate are still listed – so that may suggest he’s off the books and gone back to QPR – for good?

I think one-size has had his chance in the prem with other teams, and looked lacking, however, I think he has matured these days, so I would take him as cover. I wouldnt expect STaylor, Colo and MW to panic about competition for places if we do sign him though.

I think we need to keep in mind that Tamas Kadar has been declared to be in the picture, and Hall would be sitting behind Williamson/Kadar. NUFC seems strong in central defense, with cover needed for the outside men. Can Hall work the wings?

BeeGuy, I think the fact that Kadar, Raylor and Staylor can all do a job out at lb/rb means we’ll probably only get one in as cover.

Staylor could be quality at RB with Williamson and Colo at CB, and Enrique at LB – surely this’d be our strongest back four in years!

I’d like to keep him as cover, but not at the expense of Kadar’s development. You can’t teach “tall” and at 6’4″ he does have that going for him. Will he be with us at the start of next season? I seriously don’t think so.
But he still has the best nickname going. “One Size”—brilliant!

@Paul141726 – I believe the ‘one-size’ nickname has been with him since his childhood, but I also chuckled the first time I heard it on football365 during his days at Oldham.
