Hughton Talks About Players Not Coming To Newcastle

Chris Hughton has talked about some players who will not be arriving on Tyneside in the summer.

Chris Hughton – names some players not coming to Newcastle

Probably the best guide Newcastle will get is when Hughton denies he is after a player.

Chris has already said he is not interested in bringing 18year-old Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere to Tyneside on loan this summer,  but that has not stopped the reports continuing that Newcastle are after the player.

Hughton has admitted today the Newcastle club are some way off making their first signing in the transfer market this summer.

Two players Chris has said he is not interested in signing are free agent  West Brom midfielder Robert Koren and Racing Lens  and former Marseilles striker Toifilou Maoulida.

Koren is 29 year-old and we thought yesterday he would be too old for Newcastle and the same is true for the French 30 year-old striker.

There were reports in France claiming 30-year-old Maoulida was in advanced talks with Newcastle, but Hughton has said there’s no truth in those reports whatsoever.

But Hughton is still working hard behind the scenes to secure some signings this summer, and has concentrated his efforts on France apparently.

And Chris has said he is only looking for players under 25 year-old who can add quality and numbers to the existing Newcastle squad.

Hughton said today:

“There will be plenty of names mentioned but I think we’re still a little way off signing anyone yet,”

Whenever we see reports suggesting Newcastle we are after somebody near 30, we can probably dismiss those reports this summer.

he hasn’t signed yet, apparently £4mill + Gio Dos Santos doesn’t meet their valuation.

Ed, where did Hughton say he isn’t interested in Robert Koren?

I don’t think we’ll get him, ’cause as we’ve seen, other clubs are already moving in the transfer market, and we’re not, he is free and will be snapped up quickly.

As for Turan, £4m and Dos Santos? Wasn’t he valued at £20 2 years ago?

Solaidback…I’m not sure the under 25 rule applies to free transfers and loans.

Look at our signings from last year: One Size, Pancake, McLoven all over 25…Routledge, Arnold and Best are younger, but that just shows we’ll get what’s there (when it comes to free’s anyway).

    @jesus – £20 is a bit harsh! I thought he was pretty good 😀
