Newcastle Reported Interest In Sunderland’s Kieran Richardson

This could well be another of the 99% of stories of Newcastle being said to be interested in a player they haven’t even considered.

Kieran Richardson – Newcastle interested?

However, it’s not the first time that Newcastle have been linked with Sunderland star and former Manchester United winger come full back – Kieran Richardson.

Newcastle have been interested in Richardson, 25, for a couple of years now, but Kieron only recently said he would even be willing to play left-back for Sunderland, and therefore save the club a fortune in bringing in a new full-back.

But Kieron likes playing in a more forward position and that, linked with the fact that he has just one more year left on his Sunderland contract, are the reasons this story could be true – although we doubt it.

The Sunday Mirror are saying Richardson could be picked up for as little as £2M, but Sunderland would be stupid to let him go for that low price.

However, we like Kieran and he would certainly improve the Newcastle squad, but we have to think this is a very long shot at being true – at best.

The Greenwich-born player has played just 33 times for Sunderland with 6 goals (one against Newcastle), and was signed in July of 2007 for a fee thought to be in the region of £5.5M from the Red Devils.

Kieran has played 8 times for England.
