Newcastle do have a much improved squad from the one that started last season in those initial depressing days of July.
Andy Carroll – more to come form the 21 year-old
Many players improved last season, and the list is too long to mention, but Andy Carroll was one who came on in leaps and bounds.
Andy had 3 Newcastle goals before last season and now has 22, after his 19 goal haul of last season, with all but three coming this year.
And it seems like Newcastle manager Chris Hughton thinks there is still more to come from the 21 year-old striker, even in the tougher Premiership, as he said today:
“Andy had a very good season and we asked him to contribute with more goals,” “He did that and he improved his all-round play, so he couldn’t do any more last season.”
“But I have no doubt there is still more to come from him and he will be up against better players and tougher defenders. He is a good player who we see as having a good future at the club.”
Andy has his court case for assault and battery in front of Newcastle magistrates coming up the week after next, and we have to hope he can put that nonsense behind him – and the sooner the better.
It seems the only cloud on what could a be a great future for Andy Carroll at his home-town club.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Is it just me that thinks if Carroll stays quite fit and stays with us until his thirties that he’ll be our top scorer?
I mean he’s already on 23 after just one proper season

Comment #3Well we are looking at bringing in Chelsea’s young defender Slobodan Rajkovic on a season long loan. He was on loan to Fc Twente this past season and won the Dutch championship. Worth a go?

Comment #5Sulemen Sarajlic is just turned 15 and stands about 6’5 tall! Very Impressive. United have told his club we want him back in October and straight into the United’s u-18, u-19 academy. 🙂
I hope all these youngsters will go on the right path and not get sold after they are about to shine.

Comment #7Craigg, you do that for several reasons. First, if he is the best out there & you can get him cardinal rule of professional teams is :Get him. Second, it bolsters the spirit of his peers: They see they are part of a highly valued group. Third, it is a recruiting tool: “See, we have signed the best young goalie in Europe, do you want to join us as we rise to the top? I could go on.

Comment #8It’ll only be a small fee but, in a few years, we could sell him for a much larger fee – makes sense to me

Comment #9Baro. Rajkovis was excellent when i saw him play for twente. He can play at left back or at CB and hes pretty decent at both of them.. tho that was in the dutch league and we all know the dutch league isnt exactly the toughest of them all

Comment #10My doubts about AC are well documented across the blog, but I do hope big Andy does it. Wouldn’t it be great to have a prolific top flight scorer who was home grown and local? I have to admit he has looked great in the fizzy division, lets hope he looks as good when he is up against John Terry and Rio Ferdinand et al!

But, I think the right sleeve is just bent over there. Its a shadow or something there to make it look grayish.
