Jamie O’Hara £6M Price Tag Will Rule Out Newcastle

If today’s papers are to be believed and Spurs have indeed slapped a £6M transfer fee on 23 year-old Jamie O’Hara, then that will probably rule out Newcastle.

Jamie O’Hara – £6M price tag – that’s too high

West Ham are also thought to be interested but they may be able to sell some of their players and come up with the £6M price tag, which seems high.

But Spurs also wanted £8M for their right back Alan Hutton, which is what they paid Glasgow Rangers for him back in January, 2008, but that turned Sunderland away – and Newcastle too – if they were ever interested in the player.

Avram Grant is due to be appointed Portsmouth manager next week, and is said to be keen to make O’Hara his first purchase for his new club, and you have to think the West Ham Board will want to come up with the money for their new manager.

It may already be a done deal in fact.

But we don’t think O’Hara is a good buy at that money, and we have to think that if Newcastle were ever interested in the player, that interest has now died.

What do you think?

1 good season and now his price is overly inflated. Sigh, price of buying english.

There is no way we will pay 6 million for this guy. 3 million sounds like a more reasonable fee. Redknapp always wants lots of money for bench scrubs who have 1 good season or 2 good games.

I think he worths at 5M, so 6M is just a bit expensive, I dont know where did 3M come from, but if I m a spurs fan, 3M is definitely not going to happen

we arnt going to sign him anyway, he is out of our range, and Hughton has dismissed him already, why bother

Im sorry jaynufc89 but im sceptical of what you’ve said. Its not a knock on you but heres why. My firend at work, and this is genuine is best friends with Joe Cole. They gre up together and he was best man at his wedding (pics in hello or ok) i ask him everyday all the sorts of questions from “do you hack him on Fifa? To join NUFC. My mate says that he (Joe) generally doesnt hear about gossip b4 any of us i.e. papers. He knows of personal issues of players, but he couldnt ever get hold of info like who’s being transfered even in his own team! So how these “sources” know everything is very unreliable.

Ben Khalifa has already signed for wolfsberg , but i agree their is alot of young talent abroad that would cost half the price of buying someone of lesser quality from english club

you really set yourself up for a fall by making these claims , even if they are true , it normally takes a month for ashley to get even the simplist of things done , remember when we signed collo ?

i am trying not to be to negative , but does anyone else think we were a bit lucky last season ? their were a lot of games when we were out played for long periods but won because of the poor finishing of the other teams , and a good few of them were at home , it did improve after january , but that was simply because we got routledge in and gave us more balance , just think without reinforcements we could be overun in the premier league , anyone else think the same ?

He’s a reasonable player but he’s a bit of a tool as a human being. It’s not really like we need another attacking midfield player with Guthrie, Nolan, Barton and now Vukic all fighting for time. We could do with a replacement for the awful Butt. A ball winner who could actually pass afterwards would be nice.

ashleys wallets cobwebs I see where you are coming from but think about what you are saying luck generally work in fits and starts like the odd game here and there but to win 18 and draw 5 goes a little bit beyond luck.

Yes we were out played for periods of time in just about all of our games but the opposition were unable to break down the defence well enough to capitalise and that is because we were able to spoil their game.

Look at the champ league final Barca dominated but never looked like the were ever going to make the break through and that was just a well marshalled defence spoiling the attack.

Sometimes dominating a game is just not good enough if you cannot get through that last ten yards.

6m for o’hara? no thanks but Guthrie & Barton will be doing just fine for us in that position.
