Good news today in the Evening Chronicle today that Newcastle are negotiating a new contract with 21 year-old Andy Carroll, and it appears the only thing Andy is wondering is how long can he make the contract, as he wants to stay at Newcastle for a long long time.
Andy Carroll – with his baby girl
There was some daft news in the Daily Mail this morning that Birmingham and Stoke City will fight it our for Andy’s signature this summer, but they had better not even start that fight – because Carroll is simply not available.
A source close to the Gateshead-born striker told the Evening Chronicle today:
“I think it’s quite clear where Andy’s heart is, and that he doesn’t want to be anywhere else, especially with Newcastle going back to the Premier League.”
“There have been discussions about his future, and for him it’s about how long he can stay at St James’ more than anything else.”
Of course Chris Hughton has brought on the 21 year-old very so well in his almost one year in charge of Newcastle United, and Chris sees the lad still improving vastly – from the player he is today:
Chris said today:
“Andy is a big player for us now and in the future.” “He’s very excited about being a Premier League player with Newcastle next season.”
So there you have it – what we’d like to see is Andy sign a 5 year deal at the club, followed by 24 year-old local lad Steven Taylor also singing a 5 year deal on Tyneside.
And they should have in their contracts a promise that they will not punch each other over those 5 years – that should do it. 😀
