As we reported yesterday, Newcastle United are currently working with Newcastle striker Andy Carroll to give him a new, longer and improved contract.
Andy Carroll – new improved contract on Tyneside
Andy himself is very pleased to stay on Tyneside of course, and had his best season ever for Newcastle last season, and since the turn of the year was a regular goal-scorer for his home-town club, and looks like a very good player in the making.
Chris Hughton is of course very keen on Andy, and sees the player improving again next season, as he has already told Andy the areas of his game that he needs now to improve on.
Chris Hughton said today:
“Andy is a big player for us now and in the future. He is very excited about being a Premier League player for Newcastle United.”
Andy’s current contract runs for another 3 years, but Newcastle will both lengthen that contract and give Andy an improved deal, and it also looks like the lad will wear the famous number 9 shirt at Newcastle for next season.
Not surprisingly, there are a number of clubs like Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City only too willing to sign the 21 year-old, but we think there’s no chance that this lad will leave Newcastle any time soon.
And the Newcastle club will again stand by Carroll, who will go on trial at the Newcastle Crown Courts on October 25th.
Carroll has pleaded not guilty to an assault and battery charge.
