Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has told any club looking to sign his midfield star Charlie Adam, to forget it, because Charlie will be staying at Bloomfield Road and trying to keep Blackpool in the Premiership next season.
Charlie Adam – after scoring at Wembley – he’s going nowhere
Adam has been already been linked with a potential move to Everton and Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic are clubs who also may be interested.
But once Blackpool secured their promotion by beating Cardiff City at Wembley, in that terrific play-off final, it was always going to be difficult to prise the talented Scottish central midfielder away from the Seasiders.
Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette:
“Just before the kick-off at Wembley, Charlie ran over to me and I gave him a bit of a hug and said in his ear ‘You were born for this day’.”
“If we hadn’t got promoted, I think he’d have been gone already.” “But now we’ve gone up, I don’t think wild horses would be able to drag him away.”
That says it all – it’s now very very unlikely that Charlie will be moving away form Blackpool, especially after he was Blackpool’s player of the season and also made the Championship team of the season, which also included four Newcastle players of course – Coloccini, Enrique, Nolan and Carroll.
On 4 August 2009, Adam signed a two-year contract with Blackpool, after he had been playing on loan for the Seasiders, and Adam played 46 games for Blackpool with 17 goals last season and has 59 total appearances with 19 goals for the seaside club.
Whoever Charlie plays for in the years ahead, it would seem like he’s got a great career ahead of him – but he would look very good in a black and white striped shirt. 😀
