Chris Hughton has told anybody and everybody who wants to listen to him, that no player of our current squad will be leaving Newcastle this summer.
Andy Carroll – 21 year-old star striker going nowhere
There was news over the weekend that Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti liked the look of Andy Carroll, and the news was the Italian would be willing to bid £7M for the young Gateshead-born striker.
Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:
“I can say 100% that I have not heard anything from Chelsea, to me that is just speculation.” “We’ve got no intention of seeing Andy Carroll leave Newcastle United.”
“The reasons for that are he has the right profile, he’s a young player and he’s got a big future here with us.”
Pre-season training will start on July 7th, and Chris wants to ensure no player leaves the club this summer, and he will build on his current squad with say four good players coming in – we hope.
Chris doesn’t seem to be too worried about signing new players and has always seemed confident that he can bolster the squad this summer, no matter how much he is given to spend by the Newcastle Board.
But it’s very clear the club is not in good financial state right now and very little money will be available, and most Newcastle fans seem to have accepted that – but it doesn’t follow they are necessarily pleased about.
But on the other hand we think Chris is just the type of manager who is able to bring in some good players for very little money, and we think he’ll do just that.
Chris continued:
“It’s the time of year when work behind the scenes is being done each day.” “By the time next season begins I am confident there will be new players at the club.”
Good words from Chris and we trust he will indeed improve Newcastle’s squad – although it may be a few weeks before we see the first player through the door.

Comment #1Imo, I think we’ll be waiting a long time for Chelsea to make a bid for Andy Carroll. They’ve got plenty of money to go and sign the likes of Torres e.t.c
