Who says Newcastle will not be able to strengthen their squad this summer, even though no transfer money will be available?
Joe Cole – one of 500 free agents available this summer
News today that there are currently 500 free agents on the market looking for new clubs this summer.
These include mostly older players and include stars such as Joe Cole and Michael Ballack od Chelsea, Joe Ledley, Martin Petrov, Hamit Altintop, Kris Boyd, William Gallas, Robert Koren, Sol Campbell and Thierry Henry amongst many others.
While players like Joe Cole, Ballack and possibly Joe Ledley ad some others are beyond the reach of Newcastle United, there has to be some good players in that list who could do a job for Newcastle next season- surely.
The players’ union have already listed more than 400 released players on their website, (they include Newcastle’s Nicky Butt), advertising the availability of the players and we’re certain Chris Hughton has already been trolling this list of players over the past few weeks.
Here are the top 30- up for grabs this summer – according to the Daily Mail:
As PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor said today:
“It is a very insecure career.”
Let’s hope Newcastle can find a couple of free agents who would fit the bill at Newcastle this summer, and then we can get another couple of good loan signings in August – and we could be on our way.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Good sentiment bobby-ollox. Me – I just loved seeing the Toon, win or lose, right from the first time I saw those stripes run out on to the pitch, home or away. Still get a lump in the throat when we equalise!!!!

Off topic but according to today’s Guardian……
“David Beckham on hand to sprinkle Stardust on England’s 2018 bid”
So that’s where he’s disappeared to – no more mixing with the hoi polloi for Stardy then?”
Too little time too much to do these days my friend!
Still read but havent posted much since the apparent fall out with Worky Ticket on .org. ( to this day I dont know what it was about lol!)

Comment #46Lol Roy – coming from you I will take w@nker as a compliment!
It was a needless fall out – I genuinely dont have a clue what it was for – I think Worky must have been under stress or something.
As for Spew……… 😉

Stardust broke rank and turned on worky. Game over.”
Can you say to BBM – “Cheers Fella, I thought I was sitting in the middle of a really silly trivial argument between Deb, Dave and Worky, it was meant to be a laugh and banter with folks – no accounting for perception is there!
After I was banned I was upset as the threads were back edited and changed to reflect differently what had happened – and Worky wasnt replying to emails – so I logged on posting in different names to defend myself, at first I actually thought it was a wind up! Would have been class if it was lol – I was done like a kipper lol”

Comment #54To be fair – I realised afterwards when I knew it wasnt a wind up he must have been “going under” with stress or something.
C’est la vie – the house I have been building is going up a lot quicker now that I am not typing all day lol!
Oh and Cheers for disagreeing with him with it at the time re the banning, it was really appreciated, as has been Big Daves blogs on it let him know I really appreciated it too.
Pass on my regards to him fella – and let him know that I have read everything he wrote, and thank him for holding his perception that we were genuinely having a laugh – he has been a class act.
Cheers

Comment #56By the way I felt really bad that you were banned, especially as it was handbags at 40 paces with myself, Dave and Worky. He clearly was in a big strop for whatever reason that day, but I’m sorry if you getting involved ended up with your ASBO

Comment #59@ 40 Cropper. Never argued for spending nowt, Roy, just in favour of establishing a sustainable model that doesn’t require the owner or the bank to cough up millions every year to keep us going on the field.
Our squad is already better than most of the relegation favourites, and some judicious signings will only help. This is silly season (Milner to City), and I am only pleased CH is there to cajole us through it.
We won’t go down again, we shouldn’t have gone down in the 1st place, and wouldn’t have if Ashley hadn’t been so incompetent. Hopefully he will sell up soon, and the stronger we are financially and on the field the more tempting the proposition.
Patience, NUFC will survive and prosper.
