Hughton Says He’s Not Interested in Brazilian Striker

There are regular reports in the press of both interest from other clubs in Newcastle players and interest from Newcastle in other players who may be available at other clubs.

Ilan – Newcastle not interested

Over the last couple of days there were reports that Brazilian striker Ilan, who was recently released by West Ham, was interesting  Newcastle, amongst a host of other clubs.

But as we had suspected Newcastle manager Chris Hughton is not interested in the player as he told the Newcastle Journal today:

“He is not a player we are interested in.”

The Brazilian scored four goals in 11 appearances for the Hammers after joining them in January from St Etienne, but he had difficulty getting a starting position with the struggling side,  and certainly never impressed us much in the three or four times we watched him play for West Ham.

As far as interest in Newcastle players goes,  Hughton says he has not received a single enquiry for Steven Taylor, Andy Carroll or any of his other star players.

Chris has to hope that will continue to be the case until the close of the summer transfer window at the end of August, but that’s unlikely.

As far as Newcastle bringing in their first signing of the season – Chris has said today that is unlikely to happen for at least another couple of weeks.

Newcastle fans are patiently waiting.

Reading the blog over the last few weeks Ed, perhaps you should re-write that statement to read ‘(some?) Newcastle fans are patiently waiting’. lol. Glad to say we are not interested in Ilan anyway, apparently his attidude is ‘questionable’ at best, and I have to agree that skills wise he was nothing special to watch.

If Hughton’s still planning to vet some potential signings at the World Cup, he really ought to be told that it kicks off tomorrow.

Or has there been a change of plan? Maybe he’s got the all the signings in the bag and timed to be unveiled with the new strips….. when they arrive?

there will be no signings untill end of july or start of the season. He denys every player cause none of the free agents are coming and hes waiting on the likes of city, arsenal etc to sign a few players so that we can possibly loan their players who aint going to be playing for them.

Accept it or not but thats reality!

Lob slam, lob slam – this is getting pretty tedious,.,, yaaaaaawn.

toongloom, why should we accept that idea? that’s just your theory.

I don’t doubt the parsimony of Ashley – I do still think Hughton is a credible and bright fella who is working to a plan regarding what we need, what he can budget for and what’s out there.

I just hope he’s looking at young mobile players like wickham, wilshere, whittingham, pedersen, park chu young.

@ bato and lesh. …ya that wont be happening… first our manager only wants stupid championship players who r Irish or best,Routledge, Williamson and even hall…does any of this signings strike u …cause me all of them did ..all players who didn’t do good in the epl except best…who wasn’t in the epl ….and chris getting players who played in the WC…is highly doubtful

Chris is just denying all the players we’re linked with. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was interested in a good few of them.
