Stoke City will not sell James Beattie to Blackburn Rovers for anything less than £2M.
James Beattie – 32 year-old is way past his best
Blackburn’s manager Sam Allardyce is said to be keen on the experienced striker, although we’re not sure why, since James seems way past his best.
Beattie has not looked a good player for the last year and could never get a starting position at Stoke City.
Beattie has started just 25 games for Stoke following his £3.5M transfer from Sheffield United last season, and we have to think another Championship club should try to get James, because he’s showed he can score goals in the English second division.
Tony Pulis rates the 32-year-old at around £2m, and the news still going around is that Pulis could use that money to tempt Newcastle United for their star 21 year-old striker Andy Carroll.
But even a £7M bid for Andy will be flatly turned down by the Tyneside club, because two players manager Chris Hughton will not let go this summer are two of our local lads – Andy Carroll and Steven Taylor.
So we think the Stoke manager will be wasting his time.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2Can’t blame stoke for trying but they will have to use the 2milllion on some one else. They obviously read the press to think that it’s worth a try but not even MA is stupid enough to sell (i hope).

Comment #4Surely they would only sell one of their players to fund their chance of ours… if they had already agreed a price. :S
I hope not lol

Comment #5Is this where we have come to – the likes of Stoke thinking they can even consider buying the likes of Carroll? Carroll and Steven Taylor this season can be seen as possible England contenders not relegation scrappers with Stoke.

Comment #17I think given MA’s take on NUFC he has probably already told CH he can sell to buy and that means anyone. I don’t think MA gives a hoot about who plays for us merely what they cost.
Fortunately CH has a little savvy and will not let him go. As for the player himself why move to a club with no more promise than your own?.

Comment #20I’ll donate the 50p if he comes up short.
Beattie had a ‘best’ that he’s now past, Ed?
I must’ve missed it.
