We heard during the Germany – Australia televised game earlier this week, that Germany’s talented midfielder, 25 year-old Bastian Schweinsteiger, was unsettled at Bayern Munich, and that it wasn’t clear that Bastion would be playing there next season.
Bastian Schweinsteiger – loan deal to Newcastle possible?
Bastion is a right-footed player, who usually plays as a left winger, but the Kolbermoor, West Germany born player can also play on the right wing and last season had been playing in a more central role at Bayern.
He was in central midfield for Germany when they hammered Australia 4-0 earlier this week.
Newcastle need a central midfielder and a winger for next season, so if Newcastle could bring his talented player to Tyneside – on a season-long loan deal – Bastion who could start almost every game – and would make a huge impact at the club.
Having said that, Bastion of course is used to European competition and so it could well be that Newcastle are not the draw they once were – but if the player is unsettled at Bayern – it may be worth a shot – and yes it would be a bold move by the Tyneside club.
Bastion joined Bayern when he was just 13 years old back in 1998, and has so far played 305 times for the German giants with 32 goals, and he has played 75 times already for Germany with 21 goals.
And this player doesn’t turn 26 until August 1st.
He would be a wonderful signing for Newcastle on a loan deal – but the Newcastle club may not be a big enough draw right now – to be able to attract a world class player like Schweinsteiger.
But it’s nice to at least think about it. 😀
