Can Newcastle Get Bastian Schweinsteiger On Loan?

We heard during the Germany – Australia televised game earlier this week,  that Germany’s talented  midfielder, 25 year-old Bastian Schweinsteiger, was  unsettled at Bayern Munich, and that it wasn’t clear that Bastion would be playing there next season.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – loan deal to Newcastle possible?
Bastion is a right-footed player, who usually plays as a left winger, but the Kolbermoor, West Germany born player can also play on the right wing and last season had been playing in a more central role at Bayern.

He was in central midfield for Germany when they hammered Australia 4-0 earlier this week.

Newcastle need a central midfielder and a winger for next season, so  if Newcastle could bring his talented player to Tyneside – on a season-long loan deal – Bastion who could start almost every game – and would make a huge impact at the club.

Having said that,  Bastion of course is used to European competition and so it could well be that Newcastle are not the draw they once were – but if the player is unsettled at Bayern – it may be worth a shot – and yes it would be a bold move by the Tyneside club.

Bastion joined Bayern when he was just 13 years old back in 1998,  and has so far played 305 times for the German giants with 32 goals, and he has played 75 times already for Germany with 21 goals.

And this player doesn’t  turn 26 until August 1st.

He would be a wonderful signing for Newcastle on a loan deal – but the Newcastle club may not be a big enough draw  right now – to be able to attract a world class player like Schweinsteiger.

But it’s nice to at least  think about it. 😀

Comments always welcome.

He will be snapped up by some Premiership club who can offer high wages. Ashley only pays in pies it seems.

Hmm, would be definetly just the type of player we need, but there’s no fekkin way the lad would come to Toon.

macnoble – “Hmm, would be definetly just the type of player we need”. Yes of course, we are crying out for central midfielders aren’t we.

Ed, he would be great yeah -just behind Anelka – your other fantasy loan target. A world famous german international who played in the engine room of the CL finalists, dunno may be a tad out of our grasp eh.

Awesome player, would love to see him in a toon top, but I don’t think it will happen. I expect if he comes to the prem it will be with either manyoo, chelski or citeh.

This is just ridiculous. Schweisteiger for the Toon? One of the worlds best midfielders from a club that was in the champions league final to NUFC?

Yeah, he would die to come here…

Wasn’t Keegan trying to sign him but the poison dwarf signed Gonzales and Xisco instead? I believe that was the key reason that Keegan walked.

Correct >>G<<< Keegan was told he could sign Schweinsteiger after they had sold Millner against keegans wishes, but as usual they lied.

boater- I was referring to his ability to create and to pass. We do not posess many of those, plus the lad is more than capable to play in either wing.

He has been linked with Chelsea (£25m) for weeks now and you think we can get him on loan? For what its worth I think he will stay at Bayern Munich but I can tell you he won’t be signing for NUFC.

No, Schweinsteiger did a u-turn himself. That was the story so let’s not twist it around to suit our own agendas.

Ki the s. korean 20 yr old bossed midfield in their opening game – not been given the starts at celtic yet since his winter move. That’s more realistic – looks a cracking player too.

Now I’m afraid your blog is in serious danger of being ridiculed if you keep plucking names out of thin air Ed.
At least make your possible transfer targets slightly believable. tut tut

boater@12. Didn’t realise that lad was at celtic , he did look like a good player & would be quite a realistic target. These players are out there if you know where to look!?

Ed, there is absolutely no chance whatsoever of ANY top footballers joining ‘the Newcastle club’ this summer. As much as I appreciate your need to keep your blog active and hunger – like the rest of us – for any kind of transfer news, this is just ridiculous. We will make a few uninspiring but sensible signings, both on frees and loans, and they will be enough to keep us in the Premiership. The sooner we all accept this, the better.

    Ed,
We won’t get this lad on loan because we will not pay the wages and the club has no ambition to attract him. But we might get Messi and Ronaldo on loan. What do you think?

I couldnt stop laughing when i read this post, Bastian Schweinsteiger, come on Ed surely there is something else you can post better than that, i think we would have struggled to sign him even if we were in the champions league, never mind just got promoted.

I guess we can add Schweinsteiger to the long list of current top international players who will be let go by thei current clubs and want to come to a struggling team

New to this blog but am an avid reader , this provocted me to reply , why would we even be linked to a player who is on 110k plus , we as fans should actually think of the greater good and keep away from over priced players who are unproven in PL , its actually time to wake up and thank Mike Ashley for getting the club on a level playing field and for introducing a cap and bring in youth to accompany the older experienced heads we have . We have got to get behind all the club and not be on the back page for protest NUFC have been a joke for too many years , bring in 4 / 5 young strong players that will compliment the team

another day another ridiculous article with no basis or truth to it, i used to read this blog to avoid getting info from the papers but now i think id be better off. I cant believe how many so called articles have been posted recently that have a question mark at the end! Meaning there is absolutley no truth in the story whatsoever. We havent even been “linked” this time its just some jibberish to fill a few paragraphs about someone who will probably never even play in toon let alone for! Dont usually post normally just read but this is just pathetic!!

hahaha thinking about it the only thing that LINKS us to him is the fact he MAY be unsettled at bayern! So that must make him “linked” to every other club in the whole world! This blog has become a total joke recently and i think ed must be getting his articles from that footy rumours site!

The South Koreans are very zippy players and I liked what I saw in the Chilean team. They have some quick, creative and talented players in their squad. I know we haven’ t fared well in recent years with South Americans (exception being Nobby) but it might be worth a shout again.

We’ve got one schwein at the club already, Ed, and he’s Mike Ashole, the reason we will NOT be signing any player of the calibre of this fella.
It would have been a coup under Keegan, but not so laughable as it is now. Just shows how far we’ve fallen.
Give it a rest, Ed. There will be more Mackems than Mags on your site if you keep this up.

He was the replacement for Milner that had been lined up by Ashley and Wise with Keegan’s blessing. Unfortunately he chose to turn us down at the last minute after the Milner sale had gone through.

If he turned us down then, we have no chance now.

Shame the articles here are getting rigiculous…

Buying Koreans and Jappanese players would send shirt sales throught the roof. Don’t know why we have never capitalised on this far East market, after all it’s what Ashley does – sell shirts !!!
