Chris Hughton Promises Newcastle Fans New Players

Chris Hughton has talked to Sky Sports today after the Premiership fixture list was released earlier this morning.

Chris Hughton –  very confident new players will arrive

And there have been concerns on Tyneside ever since the Newcastle Board issued that weird communication to their fans that really ended the celebrations of doing do well last season.

There will be “no new capital outlay for players” seemed to suggest no money would be available at all for transfers,  and Chris would need to go after free agents, or bring in some season-long loan signings.

We still don’t know if some money will be available to actually buy some players – what a concept – but we are hopeful money will be made available.

But good news today that Chris has again strongly suggested to Sky Sports that bolstering the Newcastle squad following promotion will definitely happen in the summer.

Chris said today:

“We are very confident that going into the season we will bring in the players that we need to bring in, and we wanted to keep the bulk of what we had,”

“I think it is a very exciting prospect getting in the league and one we have to look forward too.”

“The ultimate target is to stay in the division but I don’t think we can settle for that, we have seen Birmingham and Wolves do very well last year.”

“And Stoke over the last few seasons have really sustained a place and improve every year and that has to be our objective.”

Good words from Chris, and this  should convince Newcastle fans that the club has made some progress in getting their targets on Tyneside this summer.

We hope so anyway.

Howay The Lads!!

Yes, good words indeed. Unlike Ashole and Llambias.
Lets see if we can make ‘both ends meet’. I hope the threat of a PR disaster which an opening day thrashing at ManU represents, should prise open the purse.
    Watch out for moths.

Why is he always talking about bringing players? he needs to be making moves now for those free agents now and talk about them when their signed.

Nail on the head hitman and John. Believe it when I see it and not until. Hope Ashley has paid the electricity bill at St James’s otherwise we will be even more in the dark!

hughton might have a few suprises up his sleeve (ie. a 15 -20 million transfer budget) and the best of the free agents like joe cole wouldn’t go to newcastle and they are all still under contract til the end of the month anyway. also ashley has spent alot of money on the club so maybe he just wants to save a few million on his targets so i am keeping an open mind on him til the start of the season.

if we do end up with some very average free agents then i will definatly be joining in with the slagging of him but for now i feel slightly optimistic as he is obviously a very smart business man and i can easily see him spending money on good players around 22 years old even if he just plans on selling them in a few years time for a tidy profit, but please check there injury historys as i couldnt bare for us to get another keiron dyer.
