Gutierrez Gets Second Yellow Card – Misses Greece Game

Argentina demolished South Korea today in Soccer City, Johannesburg  by 4 goals to 1.

Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez – better game today at right back

But even though Argentina were much the better side and were 2-0 up just before the half , the Bayern Much center-back  Demichelis was caught on the ball, and South Korea scored to make it just 2-1 at the break.

A terrible  error by the center-back and showed that the Argentine defense is their Achilles Heel.

The South Korea equalizer came after Argentina had been dominant in the first 45 minutes.

Certainly Demichelis did not have a great season for Bayern, and the 29 year-old was often pointed out as a weak link in the side that was beaten in the European Champions League Final by Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan.

Jonas Gutierrez started again at right back, and had a better game today, but will now miss the next game against Greece, because the Newcastle winger picked up his second caution in as many games.

What was clear in the game today is that Argentina are a great side going forward, but better sides could show up the Argies’ defense for what it is – mediocre at best.

In facr Dimechelis ,made another bad mistake late in the game when he lost the ball again in the penalty area but he recovered.

It seems that manager Diego Maradona has left too many good defenders out of the 23 man squad – like Newcastle’s  Fabricio Coloccini as one example – who is a better player than Demichelis – that’s for sure.

We expect Fabricio to show us that next season back in the Premiership.

Sorry, Ed, but Collocini is not better than Demichelis. Demichelis may be exposed against the best in the world, but so was Colo in the Prem. He should be in the squad, but he’s not better than a Champions League Winner.

Also Demichelis had a decent season. He was only a little shaky in comparison to the other Bayern defenders, like Phillip Lahm, who is a Beast.

inter won the champions league but i agree with your point badger.
hopefully collo will play aswell as he did the last time at old trafford and then we might have a chance of picking up a point against the mancs.

also why cant england scout the top nigerean youngsters like france do with their former colonies

still it seems a little stifling to have jonas in right back as he loves to gallop back and forth on the pitch, but i like how Diego holds him in lofty terms. Getting a second yellow may put you out of the greece game, but unless his replacement excites, then he should be back and clean carded for the second round. Argentina is through…i dont see anyone catching their GD. …..oh..and its one less game he can avoid the michael owen disease

If it means us getting players we actually need id sell the two of them they dont do enuf for me colo isnt PL standard he likes to pass the ball when hes given time and dnt like to be ruffled he wnt get that in the PL, and Jonas cnt cross or shoot to save hes life if we can get decent fees id ship them out, get eagles or cleaverly and onhoua. to cover them if they stay its concievable that both of them would be dropped over the season(Lack of form etc) sitting on the bench and a club like NUFC cnt have players earning their wages sitting on benches the big earners should be the ones who earned it bcoz of their preformances NUFC shirts.
