News today that Brazilian defender Marcos Camozzato will not be arriving on Tyneside this summer.
Marcos Camozzato -not coming to Newcastle
Earlier this summer Camozzato’s agent had claimed that the Standard Liege right wing-back has been a target of a few PL clubs, including Newcastle United and Sunderland, although he was linked more with Sunderland than with Newcastle.
But it appears that the Standard Leige player, who turned 27 last Thursday, will not be arriving in England anytime soon, as he has just penned a three year deal at Belgian Club Bruges.
His agent had been telling everybody:
“Newcastle, West Ham, Blackburn and Sunderland want him.” “But Standard have received no bids.”
That seems typical agent talk – in trying to set up some interest for his client.
The 5’10” player was at Internationale in Italy for four years from 2003 until 2007, but couldn’t get a game, and he finally joined Standard Leige in 2007, and he played around 60 times for the Belgian club with one goal.
We don’t think, from looking at his record, that he would be good enough for Newcastle – it’s as simple as that.
Comments welcome.

That simple? Not many players get a chance at Inter anyway….Fellaini turned out not to bad from Everton and from the same club Steven Defour is attracting some big interest.
Anyways, he’s just signed for Club Brugge.
