Hughton To Bring Players In As Soon As Possible

Is it just us or is Chris Hughton saying the same thing every day but only using different words?

Chris Hughton – not much new news from Chris today

This is what Chris told the Evening Chronicle today:

“We are aware of what is happening elsewhere, but I am not going to set any kind of deadline for bringing players in.”

“What I would say is we want to bring in players as early as possible so we can work with them during pre-season, but with some of the players we are looking at that may not be possible.”

“I am aware supporters want to hear names, but my attitude is the best way of doing business is the quiet way.”

Don’t get us wrong, we like the way Chris doesn’t reveal his targets until the deal is done, and that seems the right way to go about Newcastle’s transfer business.

And that’s a lot different from the way Graeme Souness went about his transfers,  as Graeme used to reveal his targets to the press,  and the names were emblazoned across the gossip papers and he seemed to do the business through the gossip press.

It seems that Chris is going after very decent players this summer, but we have to hope JLloyd Samuel is not one of them.

We reported earlier today the Sky Sports was reporting Newcastle are trying to buy the 29 year-old defender from Bolton Wanderers for around £1.5M.

I hope I am wrong but I really am thinking that CH’s regular sound bytes are just the same old story repeated differently. All children know about those tales – they are referred to by Grimm, Anderson, and Mother Goose. At least he is talking unlike dumb, dumber, and dumbest in St James’s Park media suite!

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I have been following NUFC for a long time now and business at SJP is always done near the closing of the window. remember shepard he always waited to the last min and paid over the hill for players past their primes. So i say chill and go with what CH did last january window when we all assumed he will not sign any players, and he brought in key players that improved the team.

What about replacing Alan Thompson and getting some other academy/reserve staff in place. Surely these ought to be settled in and briefed before players start arriving? Why no action on that front? Academy myarse.
