Good News Bad News About JLloyd Samuel

Well, it looks like it may have been true that Newcastle have bid £1M for Bolton defender JLloyd Samuel.

JLoyd Samuel – £1M Newcastle bid rejected by Bolton

Sky Sports is reporting tonight that Bolton Wanderers have rejected a £1M bid from Newcastle United for Jlloyd Samuel.

The defender, who can play anywhere across the back four, is however 29 years old, and didn’t seem to fit into Chris Hughton’s profile of players he will be going after this summer.

But if this news is true,  it does say there will be a little cash for Hughton to use to bring in new players over the summer, which has to be good news for Newcastle fans.

The bad news is that the bid was rejected, but the good news is that too, because we’re not sure he would be a good acquisition for Newcastle – surely Chris wants to bring in younger players who can still improve on Tyneside, and there seems to be plenty of full-backs in that category.

That’s what we think – let us know if you think JLoyd would be a good buy for Newcastle at £1M.

Samuel’s contract has just one year left to run at the Reebok Stadium club, so we shouldn’t be thinking of raising the bid by too much, but we’ll know within a day or two if Newcastle still want the defender.

Comments welcome.

A defender who can play anywhere at the back – with experience of fighting at the bottom and in relegation fights?

He isn’t a name you’d pick to sign but does he ever really make any mistakes? I haven’t heard any Bolton fans moan about him that often but to be honest, I don’t know too much about him.

He would be a stop gap type of signing until Kadar gains more experience. He would allow Kadar to go out on loan for first time football too.

I’ve said all a long that CH would get a 1/4 of the new Northern Rock & Puma sponsorship money to spend this summer, so I reackon he’ll have around £5m to buy players with 🙂

As for JLoyd Samuel, I don’t know anything about him, so can’t really comment but if he’s a versitile player, then £1m is a good price but it dpends on Bolton in the end…

The problem now is that other teams know we have some money to spend after all the crap-loids stories saying we have none, so will hold out for higher prices for their players…. 🙁

We need these type of players as squad players IF we can get them cheap. Bullard would be another, less injury prone would be better granted but we need these players as b4 we had the likes of Speed, Butt etc so squad experience is vital.

And as i said 2 months ago prior to Thomo leaving coaches and staff that can develope the yoof

Does anyone think jaynufc89 will be coming back to tell us how we’re on the verge of signing JLloyd Samuel now, just because he’s read it somewhere?

Why don’t we sign Brett Holman?

wouldn’t cost much, can play both wings, and in the hole.

Its not good news at all…if Hughton believes he is right for us, then who are we to say that its good news if we dont get him.

Hopefully Hughton has a plan for what he wants and obviusly an experienced versatile defender is on his list.

And his own goal against Man utd is awful, but every player makes mistakes.

Just to re-iterate my post from the last Jlloyd Samuel article:

Firstly, why would we pay money for a left-back who’s no better than Kadar?

Secondly, Samuel and I have shared one or two mutual friends over the years and let’s just say I’m sure he’d enjoy the Bigg Market. We do NOT need more Kieron Dyers.

    Conclusion: NO THANKS

First off, sorry i havent been on here lately lads. The army has had me rehabbing my wounds and injuries and i havent had much free time where i wasn’t in alot of pain and felt like writing.

If Hughton only had 5 mil to spend i doubt he would blow a mil of it on samuel. I agree that he probably doesnt have much money but i figure he has closer to ten then 5. He had more then 5 back in january when we were soda popping it. We are back in the big time now and even BIG MAC (my disrespectful name of the mcdonalds fatboy burger for ashley) isnt dumb enough not to put a fair amount in chris hands. Samuel wouldn’t be my first choice for depth on the back 4 but he can play all 4 spots and seems to be a solid player. Wouldn’t object to him for cover but wouldn’t start begging the gaffer to get him either. Good sign that we have some money in the kitty though that is the best thing about this story.

Last, congrats to all the 3 lions faithful. It was a great match between my yanks and the 3 lions. I am proud my yanks won the group and glad England went through as well. England s my favorite team after the yanks and i will be puling for them unless they play america.

Howay Lads and its good to be back.

And to my american toon army brother boro, THE YANKS ARE COMING!!!!

Thank god, surely Samuel isn’t the level of our ambition. Kadar or Tozer would be more than adequate cover or why’s the point having them at the club ?

I never understood why we didn’t make a cheeky £500k offer for One Size. Whatever he was asked to do, he did it, and you can’t ask more from a bench-warmer.

Re crappy_punk @ 10 who asks why don’t we sign Brett Holman?

Pity we couldn’t get his brother Duane [Allman] as well – we might then see some entertaining play!!!

We would be better off trying to bring back Aaron Hughes, never wanted to leave and loves the club.

I reckon be should take a long shot to get Ozil and Kevin Prince Boateng – both excellent creative players and can play as attacking midfielders behind Carrol or Boyd – whoever is our target man next season. Jonas and Rout on wings with Guthrie sitting in. Team next season unlikely but I like the look of it:

    Krul (Harper off to celtic)
    New RB Taylor Collocinni Enrique
    Routlege Gutierrez
    Ozil KP Boateng
Subs: Algeria keeper, Williamson, Simpson, BArton, Nolan, Lovenkrands, Vuckic
