Some Newcastle fans will not be too pleased that Newcastle manager Chris Hughton is looking to bring in a center-back around 30 years of age.
Tamas Kadar – next Newcastle center-back?
Today it seems like he can have his choice of JLloyd Samuel, former Newcastle player Andy O’Brien and Nigerian International Danny Shittu from Bolton Wanderers.
But if you look at what Newcastle already have in the center-back position, it seems to make a lot of sense.
We would hope that Tamas Kadar within maybe one season, will be pushing for a starting position, and while Mike Williamson looked great in the Championship since he arrived on Tyneside in January, he has never played at England’s top level and therefore remains a doubt.
So bringing in a player who has proven PL experience will fill the breach for Newcastle, until Kadar finally comes through, and he will also be a safety valve should 26 year-old Mike Williamson not prove up to the standards of the Premier League.
We think both Mike and Tamas will do very well in England’s top league however, and then we’ll have Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Mike and Tamas fighting it out for the central defensive positions on Tyneside.
So it hardly makes sense to spend big money on a center-back or even bring in another central defender on loan next season.
A center-back may be the only older player Chris will bring in this summer – but to us it makes a lot of sense and shows that Chris Hughton knows just exactly what he’s doing.
It may also be that Chris wants to send Tamas Kadar out on loan next season to get first team experience, and there would be a number of Championship clubs queuing up to take him, maybe through January to give him those first team games.
What do you think?

Comment #3What an amazing performance there by Japan – haha total football. No diving, moaning, cheating. Taking the ball of the feet of the opposition and running at goal again and again.
Honda’s little bit of magic to set up the third was the icing.

Comment #4doin a bit of shit talkin roy? Kadar best on the books? Its not even like a point you could argue, theres much better than kadar at the toon… For example, all the defenders who were keepin him out of the team maybe?

Comment #5I’ve got to say it doesnt make perfect sense to me.
We are repeatdly told football has changed and theirs not much money in the pot at newcastle these days (from Hughton, Cashley & Lambiarse) so we are going to buy a benchwarmer who will cost us a decent amount of money say 1m and then his wages on top of that… so theirs more money gone… now we have the youngsters whose value were going up (such as Kadar) because they have played well and being given more matches… now we unsettle them further, they get upset, their value drops because they are stuck in the reserves and we end up with less money?
I don’t get our club, we could have the best youths in the world but we are always scared to play them. Why do we want another CB anyway? We cashing in on somebody else again then?

Comment #7“Newcastle After Experienced Center-Back Makes Perfect Sense”
Well, maybe…I dont think so though.
The most important point though, there are several positions which need improvement/backup before CB!

Comment #8Not being linked to crap ones though Ed.
I don’t hink Kadar, Krul, Carroll or Range have ever let us down in a big way when called upon. Whats the point of a youth policy if we never se it !

Comment #9Except I don’t think CH is after a centre back, Ed, more a Prem experienced utility defender who can cover the whole 1st choice back 4 positions for injuries. We almost got done last season when they started dropping like flies from November onwards.
Samuel sort-of fits the bill, however Irving Natrass would have been a much better choice if we had a time machine.

Comment #11zeeton – I think Honda played his way out of contention for an nufc shirt last night – his loss,, but I would guess he’ll be fabregas’ replacement or one of the milans- bollooxxx .. as he’s been my fav player so far.
okazaki – the third goalscorer has been fantastic in each of his sub appearances – scored more international goals than anyone in the world last year (17) and is still 24,,, we’d get him in for 3-4 mil. he doesn’t look as cool as honda though.

Comment #12Keisuke Honda was way out of reach before the WC. The russian club he now plays for paid 8 million pounds for him.
And Okazaki have a rather poor/mediocre goal ratio in his club..

Comment #13Somebody go out and oil Bobby Moncur’s joints please – we may need to play him. How fit are Waddle and Beardsley? Perhaps Frank Clark could do a turn round the block an’ all! I believe CH is looking for an experienced utility defender to cover more than one option. Makes sense. Still hope we get a couple of wingers in too – Jonas and Routledge do need some speedy cover. If not get Steve Stone as player coach – only joking. Putting my trust but not my eggs in CH’s basket. Howay the lads!

Comment #14Newutd – true but he’s 24 and played for one club – so it’s misleading. That would make carroll on 23 goals over 5 years or whatever – which as we know doesn’t tell the story as to where he’s at now.
honda -yeah 6mil euro – in the winter x’fer market to cska- like I said he could end up being in the team of the tournament and signed by milan/juventus if he carries on putting in that kind of zidane like performance.

Comment #15Does anybody think there is a possibility that CH is actually looking at Matt Taylor? He can provide cover at left back and as well as that can put in a very decent shift on the left wing. I’m guessing Bolton wouldn’t want to part with him, but he seems to fit our requirement.
As for players from the WC, I just can’t see us being in contention for anybody who ‘shines’. The only level of player we are likely to be in contention for, is Rommedhal and let’s be fair, he’s about as consistant as porridge! Would like to think that SWP might consider dropping his wage demands for some first team football? Routledge def needs competition in order to get the best from him?!

Comment #16This may sound a bit crazy but if woodgate could get remotely fit over the summer i’d try get him on loan 4 a season or knock down price, i know he’s very injury prone but we could use him like spurs use king & just think how much he’d help along younger players like taylor & kadar. Woodgate on his day could mark torres, rooney & drogba out of games & that’s what he could be for us. Now that is a hell of a risk to take, if it came off tho CH would be herald as a genius. Safer bet would be sol on a free. I think we should try get riquelme on free 2 & then spend £8m on keane. That would give our sude the quality needed to stay in prem & wouldn’t cost a fortune.

Comment #17Wigaz, that is indeed crazy. We are talking about a million to one shot here mate… however… you know what they say about million to one shots… they come off nine times out of ten!

Comment #18I think young Folan (18) will make an excellant deputy for any of the experienced Center Backs. He could do the same job as what Senderos did at Arsenal as long as there is an experienced player beside him guiding him along.
