It would appear that Newcastle’s £5M bid for Paris-Saint Germain striker Mevlüt Erdinç earlier this week was a real one.
Mevlüt Erdinç – Newcastle may be priced out of player
But since his French club PSG want more money for the 23 year-old, Newcastle’s interest in the player may be over already.
Erdinc has been at the PSG club just one season, after being four years at FC Sochaux, and certainly his goal scoring prowess seems very good with 44 goals in 116 first class appearances in France, and he has 10 caps for Turkey.
The news will also have alerted other clubs, and it seems Newcastle would not bid too much more for the player, but the good news is that there is obviously some transfer funds available to Chris, if he can find the right players.
We’re impressed with this striker, and it says a lot for the Newcastle scouting system that they have found what looks to be a good player in the making.
If this story is true, which seems to be so, then Newcastle will no doubt have other players on their radar screen.
We’d like to hear no news in the press, until Newcastle sign the player, because that means things have gone smoothly, they have got the player they want, and other clubs have not been alerted.
So the news that was originally in the French paper L’Equipe seems to be good news for Newcastle fans.
Here’s hoping we get more good news – soon.
