Newcastle To Increase Erdinc Bid To Be Successful?

Mevlut Erdinc has come out today and said he is quite happy at PSG in France.

Mevlut Erdinc – I’m happy in France

The 23 year-old 5’11”  striker only signed for the French club last summer, and the amount was reported to be €9M from Sochaux-Montbéliard, which at today’s rates is around £7.4M.

One thing that immediately stands out is that if Newcastle bid only £5M, no wonder the French club it turned down flatly – who wants to lose £2.5M on a player who has already scored 19 goals in 32 appearances for the club.

Of course the fee Newcastle bid may not be accurate but with Carroll, Lovenkrands, Ameobi, Best and young Nile Ranger now at Newcastle, surely they will sell somebody if indeed Mevlut Erdinc arrives on Tyneside.

The reports today are suggesting that his club  PSG are holding out for closer to £8M, and that wouldn’t surprise us at all.

And today the 23 year-old was diplomatic in saying he was happy at PSG:

“I am not thinking about moving. I belong to PSG, but it is up to them,”

“I want to have a great season and play at my best without any injuries.”

Erdinc was hampered by one or two small injuries last season, although he did appear 32 times for the Paris based club but it seems he is looking to get completely fit for the new season, whichever club he’s at in six weeks time:

“I want to be back to 100 per cent. Last season was too hard for me.”

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is looking for a striker and seems not to be interested in free agent Kris Boyd, and the reports keep mentioning that Birmingham and Stoke continue to show an interest in Newcastle’s impressive 21 year-old striker, Andy Carroll.

But there should be no way Newcastle will sell this lad, but maybe they will try to unload 23 year-old Leon Best if their bid for the Turkish International is successful.

But it seems that Newcastle will need to raise their bid at least 50%,  just for PSG not to lose money on a player whose record is excellent.

However, with money so tight on Tyneside that seems an awful lot to pay for just one player.

Comments welcome.

KRIS BOYD is avalible on a free transfer why not sign him up !!! Also we signed XISCO why not give him a second chance on Tyneside rather than spend £5 million on MEVLUT ERDINC who could be another costly flop to follow: LUQUE, H.VIANA, BOUMSONG, MARCELINO and CORT

Couldnt agree more, Xisco if given the oppurtunity could well surprise the lot of us (fingers crossed) Kris Boyd could grab 10 goals a season if stayed fit and if not more if provided the right service

Haha. Xisco is and was never good enough for the Premiership. He is a reaaally poor version of our local kid Carroll. Also he has an insane salary. Get him the hell out.

A player who would be cheaper and maybe just as exciting as Mevlut, is Nolan Roux. Born in 1988 and has scored 14 goals in 30 matches for Ligue 2 side Brest. He also has a u21 game (for France) for whom he scored twice.

All of his goals the past season:

I doubt we’ll up our bid. But still, loving the incentive.

As for Xisco, I quite like him, but when he admitted feigning injury to get away he hit the floor in my estimation.

Maybe one or two £3 million bids for a few areas would be better than blowing it all on one player (unless of course there is a lot more to spend than we thought)

I’d think most of us see Andy Carroll being the big “go to” guy this year. So any new striker would be someone to complement Carroll. This puts Lovenkrands as a back-up to that guy. What is problematic is we are not sure if or how soon the Avatar will bloom in the PL. If he somehow fails completely, just what is Plan B? Is Mighty Nile ready to step in? He will be soon if he keeps his head on straight and works up to his potential. Then what does CH have? A Carroll/Ranger cement mixer in the middle? And how do those two get serviced? Isn’t off-season fun?

Is there any confirmation of this bid anywhere other than UK tabloids – any quotes from PSG?

    Where did it originate?

Sell Xisco, and Best, bring in Erdinc. Xisco will fetch 4m, Best maybe 1m. Erdinc is a fantastic player, young, and can only improve. I would love him at the Toon.

    @ Howay The Lads –
We would get 4m for him, I live in Spain, and a lot of people were impressed with his work rate when he was on loan @ Racing. Scored some vital goals. Then again, I would like to see him succeed at the Toon.

This Erdinc news is another non-starter, another fantasy. No chance. He obviously wants to stay in France and his club will hardly sell at a loss? Are we getting any back up for Jonas and Routledge

With the arrival of Silva and maybe Milner, could Adam Jonhson be a possible loan option for us?

    we should really start looking at the now “fringe players” at city;
ireland, de jong, swp, bellamy, onuhua, richards, garrido, zabaleta,m johnson, j hart(send krul and forster on loan and play him with harps on bench)

all of those would make our team overall stronger and with premiership experience instead of buying players from other leagues that have none

Michael Johnson would be a waste of space,i’d rather stick with Guthrie.

Ireland would be a good option

Zabaleta could be attracted cos of the Argie contigent we have here, but i dont think we can afford him.

I’d go for Bojinov on a permanent deal, him and Carroll could form a lethal partnership against any EPL team, sell Xisco for 3 mill and go for Bojinov with a 7 mill offer.

This kid isnt interested in coming to the Toon, so why bother…. I thought we only wanted players who wanted to play for us, not mercenaries again!!!
Boyd wanst to play for us, so sign him, he’ll give his all & will probably shock a few of you with what he can do…
Xisco is another who doesn’t really want to play for us, so sell him/give him away, as it will save us £50k a week on his wages, then we can use that money for players who do want to play for us, not those who don’t!!!
