Chris Hughton is also yet to decide whether to send 22 year-old goalkeeper Fraser Forster back to Norwich City on loan for next season.
Fraser Forster – returns to Newcastle pre-season training next week
That follows earlier news this week, from a seemingly frustrated Norwich manager Paul Lambert, who seems to be growing impatient and even warned that he may have to start looking elsewhere for a goalkeeper.
It’s clear that Lambert has made multiple enquiries to the Newcastle about the highly-rated young English keeper, but it’s also eminently understandable that Newcastle want to take a look at their young goalkeeper, before deciding whether to farm him out again on loan next season.
We think Lambert’s biggest concern is that another club could come in for Forster with a better loan offer, just as happened last season when Norwich came in after it looked like Fraser would stay on loan at Bristol Rovers.
The Newcastle manager will start taking a look at Fraser in the first few weeks of pre-season before making any decision, and Hughton said today:
“We’re fully aware that Norwich would like to take Fraser back, but no decision has been taken on that.”
Again nothing much given away by Chris, but we could get some decision on Fraser in two or three weeks time.
