Carroll Ready To Sign £1M/Year 4 Year Deal At Newcastle

News today that 21 year-old Andy Carroll is close to signing a new improved four year deal at Newcastle United.

Andy Carroll – close to signing new contract

The News of the World is reporting today that Andy will almost triple his current wages with the new deal, which is said to be just over £1M a year – not bad for a 21 year-old – that’s about £20K/week.

But Carroll deserves the new contract and he was Newcastle’s top scorer last season with an impressive 19 goals, and Carroll has made it very clear he wants to stay at his home town club.

Stoke, Birmingham and Blackburn have been eyeing the Newcastle striker, just in case there was a hitch in the contract negotiations, but the Newcastle club these days are not that stupid and seemed to have successfully reached agreement with the Gateshead-born striker.

Newcastle have had several meetings with Carroll’s agents this summer and the striker is now said to be ready to sign the new improved deal, which we think is good news.

The under-fire England boss Fabio Capello has been interested in Andy since he starred for the England U21 side over the last 12 months, and with the pathetic performance by the England stars in the World Cup, it may be a good time for Andy to get a full England call-up next month.

We await the news that our other local lad, 24 year-old Steven Taylor will sign a new improved contract too – and hopefully before the Premier League gets underway in mid-August.

To be honest, I doubt Carroll’s ability in the PL. I hope i’m proven wrong of cos. No doubt he is dangerous on set pieces because of his height, it is no longer a secret and we can expect opposing teams to set their defensive duties accordingly.

    PL >>>> CC

roy cropper – in one angry, illiterate, sentence you sum up all the worst things about nufc supporters.

Thankfully, most aren’t like that though.

I does get a bit boring when the likes of sjt and cropper and co. keep banging on with such negative crap.

All NUFC have done in the last 20,30years is bend to fan pressure and throw money at big names and on the whole it has gotten us absof**kinglutely nowhere.

Yet there are still loads of kn*bends that appear to only be happy when the wallets are opened.

If we cannot find players to improve the squad at the price we can afford then we should not just bring players in just for the hell of it so accept it, there will be lots of clubs in the prem in exactly the same boat.
