Fode Mansare Flattered By Newcastle Interest – Oh No!

Fode Mansare has admitted he is flattered by the  interest from Newcastle United, but that may be bad news, because it doesn’t look  like this player is good enough for Newcastle, at least not from his goal-scoring record.

Fode Mansare – flattered by Newcastle interest

There was news this morning in the French press that Newcastle may be interested in the 28 year-old Toulouse striker,  who is apparently keen to leave the French club.

Wolves tried to sign the Guinea International in January, but the move failed to come to fruition, but looking at the player’s goal-scoring record today – it’s not good.

Newcastle are said to be willing to make a move for the Guinea International and the fee is said to be around £1.5M, and today Mansare talked to Sky Sports:

“I am flattered to be linked to a move to the Premier League and Newcastle is a very big club, who is back in the big time,”

“I want to be part of the story of African performers in the Premier League.”

Newcastle signed James Perch from Nottingham Forest for a small fee today – we don’t what the fee was – but Sky Sports is reporting Newcastle are ready to offer Mansare a full four year deal on Tyneside.

We hope Chris Hughton is not getting this player into Newcastle to score goals for the club, because he has only 8 goals in 106 appearances for the French club and for his country, Guinea,  he has 44 caps with just 7 goals.

Of course he could still be a very good player – but he certainly doesn’t score too many goals.

Comments welcome.

yeah, what he said 🙂 never seen him play, so can’t really comment on how good he is, tbh.

if he was a striker, yeah that record is pretty unimpressive, but if he’s a winger, i’d be more interested in what his record is for assists, etc.

he is a very good player, strong, quick, powerful and very direct, likes to pick the ball up and run at people

Do you have any basis other than these stats as to how good or bad this player is? Also not the first player/agent to try and talk up a move, lets see if it happens and then judge him what he does on the pitch in a black and white shirt, not what wiki says!

he sounds like Pancrate? what planet are you living on?

never seen the lad play, no idea if he’s any good, but on the basis of a couple of blog posts you’ve made your mind up he’s rubbish?

some nufc fans really do my head in at times.

He looks quality on youtube, but then again..who doesn’t. He definitely got speed and trickery.

And yes, he IS a winger.

    Hypothetical question here:
If we do have to raise funds from player sales, who would you prefer to be sold? Taylor or Gutierrez?

Personally I’d prefer Gutierrez as he’d get a higher price even though he doesn’t actually assist or score that many

We shouldn’t sell anyone. Well, Best and Shola, no problem. Could easily get 4 mp for them together.

Sell Smith? Who would buy him? A central midfield player with no goals in FIVE years.

new utd i keep spelling his name like that lol, steven taylor in my opinion is overated, has poor positional sense, and gets turned too easily, i know he is a geordie which is great, but from what i have been told, he aint the best liked in the newcastle camp, alot of the players think he is arrogant, and has a bad attitude

jimiley, good point, i think teams would be interested, but his wages would rule out 99% of clubs

He is a left winger, and a decent one at that. Played a lot of games for Toulouse, but has a bit of an attitude. Should fit in then 😛

If he is a striker, Toulouse would be playing in ligue 3 instead of ligue 1.

His goal against PSG was just bumbling all over the place, but still quite impressive the determination he showed with skill in there as well.

He looks like the sort of player who would pick up the ball and run and 3 out and out wingers in Jonas routledge and this guy would be good.

Certainly a Hughton type signing, cheap but shrewd…a little piece to fit the bigger picture. Instead of buying someone who thinks they’re bigger than the picture.

Mansare is actually really good from what I’ve seen from him in the African Cup of Nations, but like his team mate Yattara and stands out like Feinduono in the national squad.

we got lots of players with good history (with high cost) but end up being crap in our team:

who knows mansare could be a proven scorer in the BPL. and he got international experience
