Newcastle Interest In Toulouse Striker Fodé Mansaré

There are reports today in France that Newcastle are interested in signing 28 year-old Toulouse striker Fodé Mansaré.

Fode Mansare – Newcastle interested?

The Guinean striker joined Toulouse in 2005 and has played over 100 times for the French club but with only 8 goals, and has appeared in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup.

Before he joined Toulouse he played for French club Montpellier, whom he joined in 2003 and played over 120 times with 14 goals, so the 5’9″ player is hardly a prolific goalscorer.

He began his career with the Ajaccio, Corsica club Gazélec Ajaccio in 1996 and played for them for 7 years.

Fodé is a regular with the Guinea National team and has played 44 times for his country with 7 goals. He was part of the Guinean 2004 African Cup of Nations team, who finished second in their group in the first round of competition, before losing in the quarter finals to Mali.

We wouldn’t think this story has much validity as he’s also 28 and turns 29 in early September, so he’s out of the age range of players Chris has said he will sign this summer.

That is some horrible record! It would even be bad for a winger or a midfielder.

i know centre halfs with better scoring records than that! hopeless obviously made up rumour. plus can i point out that chris houghton has mainly bought english or british players this is just a pathetic story that simply will not happen and its annoying to think that reporters in whatever country get payed thousands to smply lie that we are going to sign old foriegn players. Newcastle is no longer in the dark ages.

I googled Kenneth Asquez, only player that I could see he was the agent for was Benfica player Ariza Makukula, he’s 29 but looks to have a great goalscoring record (21 in 29 appearences at Kayserispor), he’s been on loan the last two seasons and we could probably get him for under 4m.

    From the chroncicle:

And sources close to Naughton, who played on loan at former SPL side Gretna earlier in his career, have indicated to the Chronicle that he would “jump at the chance” to play for Newcastle next season.

he is a good player, and he isnt a striker, he is a winger, would be a great signing

Never seen him play but hes stats dont set the world alight. But if he is a winger….jonas dont get many goals so dont mean hes a bad player.

But 99% of rumours are tosh and just agents trying it on anyway.

Heskey? The slow fat guy? Don’t think so. Fodé is speedy and full of trickery. More like a winger or something.

He has commented on the rumours today btw:,19528,11661_6246215,00.html

Now Newcastle are ready to make a move and reports suggest they are willing to pay £1.5million to secure his services.

“I am flattered to be linked to a move to the Premier League and Newcastle is a very big club who is back in the big time,” Mansare told

Fode Mansare is more of a winger and not a striker and goalscorer. His game is all tricks, which we are really missing. We had Oba Martins but he is gone. Mansare does not have nowhere near Oba speed but does do tricks to get past defenders. What we are missing. If he would come he would be Jonas backup.

well, i know it’s not the most reliable of sources at times, but he’s listed as a left winger in football manager, not a striker 🙂
