Can Andy Carroll Deliver In Premier League Next Season?

Kevin Nolan is very likely to be appointed the new Newcastle United captain for next season.

Can Andy Carroll deliver next season?

And after the bust-up between Andy Carroll and Steven Taylor in late March and after some of Andy’s exploits in Newcastle night-clubs over the last year, we understand Kevin has agreed to take the 21 year-old under his wing, and act as a mentor to the Gateshead-born striker, and hopefully keep him on the straight and narrow.

Nolan talked today about the exciting young striker at the club to the Evening Chronicle:

“Andy’s done fantastically well – he was brilliant in the second half of the season.”“I spoke to him about his goals and told him we needed vital goals from him. I said we want goals at times of the game when we need them the most.”

“That’s what he stepped up to the plate and did.” “It’s going to be tough for him next year.”  “It’s another step up.”  “But I think he has it in his locker to produce that.”

If he gets anywhere near the 19-goal mark again we’ll all be delighted.”  “And that will help us going through the season.”

Several of the Newcastle players are going back to the Premier League, after just one season below, and they are motivated to continue the substantial progress the club and team have made under Chris Hughton over the last 12 months.

Nolan added:

“We’ve all got to prove something now, and I’m looking forward to playing Premier League teams again.   “There are lads here who have blossomed – the Championship has been a good learning curve.”

“It’s been the first full season for the likes of Andy Carroll, Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson and they have all done well.”   “You can’t buy what we had last season.”

That new found team spirit hopefully will help us pick up some valuable points in close games next season, and the only thing we want  is to stay up, and if we can avoid a relegation battle, so much the better.

Definately if he gets the right service.

We need to use the wings more, we seemed to be too narrow last season and attempted to get most of our attacs up through the middle.

We need Jonas and Routlege crossing them balls in for Big andy and McLoven to get on the end of.

Richy…i thought when wayne came in we used width well. We have some great attacking full backs (simpson abit sketchy defensively though) and two wingers who can beat a man.

Also we have Guthrie whos set peices are getting better and better. So there is every chance Carroll will be a success.

In the first half of last season he was playing well with the odd goal, but then suddenly he was scoring for fun. It just seemed he couldnt stop getting his head onto the ball.

He maybe could score a few more goals like the ones in the FA cup vs WBA with his feet and beating a man on the floor but hes 21 and if he improves like he did in the past 6 months then whoa, what a player he will become.

I think he will get more than 10 goals.
