Just like Chris Hughton is taking a little time to decide which of our two young goalkeepers to send out on loan next season, so are the other managers taking the opportunity to look at some of their youngsters before deciding who to send out on loan.
Jack Wilshere – could be at Newcastle next season
Hughton is looking at players that he might be able to bring to Newcastle on loan next season, and names mentioned include Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere and Henri Lansbury, Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck, Manchester City’s Vladimir Weiss and Tottenham’s Kyle Naughton and Danny Rose all being freely mentioned in the press.
But it could still take several more weeks before Newcastle are able to bring any of their loan targets into the club, and Chris talked about this today:
“If there is a player who is available on loan it tends to either be a young player on the fringes of the first team or a player who has been up for transfer, but the club can’t sell for one reason or another.”
“Managers want to take a look at their squads in pre-season and then decide.”
“They might sign someone and decide someone else needs to go on loan – there are lots of different things that can happen.”
“We’ve had enquiries about some of our young players but we are waiting to see where we are later in the summer before we make a decision, and it’s the same for the players we have been looking at.”
Of the players listed we’d like to see Jack Wilshere on Tyneside, and then it’s a toss up between Weiss and Cleverley, as to which young winger to bring in on a season-long loan deal.
Which two loan signings would you like to see?
We’ll put these players up in a poll, and you are allowed to choose just two of them – and we’ll see which youngsters the fans want to see next season at Newcastle on loan.
