Newcastle Reported After Roma Striker

News today that Italian sources are reporting that Newcastle are keeping tabs on Roma striker Stefano Okaka – full name – Stefano Okaka Chuka.

Stefano Okaka – 20 year-old Roma striker

But just how many players the Tyneside club are really following this summer is a good question, because if you believe all the reports – there are lots.

The 20-year-old spent the end of last season at Fulham, scoring twice in 10 appearances, and the news if that he may be available for around £2M.

Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic are also said to be after Okaka, who has played 30 times for the Rome-based club with two goals, and has been there since 2005.

The Castiglione del Lago, Italy born player, who is 6’1″ tall, has been out on loan at Modena, Brescia and Fulham, and has played for all the Italian Youth sides, including the Italy U21 side.

Newcastle cannot sign all the players we are being linked with, but if we can sign 3 good players for smallish transfer fees, and then get two exciting youngsters in on loan next month, for the full season, then Chris Hughton will again have done a good job in the transfer market, just like he did in January.

Saw him a couple of years ago and thought he was one of the future, wouldnt mind him joining as he has some pace and power which suits the Premier League. Played decent with Fulham last year as well.

i’m not keen , i know he has been tipped as a star but when i saw him play in the europa leauge , i havent been impressed with him , think nile ranger would be alot better in the future than okaka and he has the desire to play for newcastle unlike alot of these foreign players , who seem to play for the wages not the team and the fans

Its canny when we’re link with good young players for the future,But the future is in the future and Present is now !.What if “we sign” these good young players and dont play well ? We would get on they backs and start nasty groups on facebook etc. ?

Is it me but do transfers seem to take 3 times longer then it used to. So frustrating its unreal. Linked to all these players yet next to nothing happens. All hot air and no action when i comes to NUFC. We have signed 1 player from the CC while the likes of Sunderland have signed 3 players. EVERYTHING is a soap opera at our club. Instead of f…..g chirping, go out and get the players signed. Ashley dragging his heals when a player costs over a million.

I still say it is all smoke screens. Infact I’ll go as far as to bet that all the names that have been mentioned this weekend aren’t even on CH’s radar. we the fans are confused, but so are other clubs. In fact I’m surprised that it hasn’t been mentioned that we’re after Rowan Atkinson, just so the scum but a bid in for him.

That’s a good way of judging a player – look at how many goals he’s scored on Wikipedia.

Ever thought of being Dennis Wise’ understudy? :/

it’s the press and agents that create the hot air not nufc, and it happens at every club in the summer. we will be linked with at least 20 players during the window and we cant buy them all. i’m confident CH will get the players he wants and i back the way the club is being run at this time.

im sick of people reading the sunday papers and believing them, then having a go at the club when we dont get the player mentioned.

Ashley is the one getting stick not the club. Its plain for all to see that the team need strengthened in most areas. Yes Perch is a good signing but we still need a Left back which we are crying out for. We need another decent striker and a one or two wide men. 2 players for every position is a must to be successful in the EPL.

For 2 million he would be decent. For Fulham he came on occasionally and never really got a good run of games, but he did have a little bit about him.

Anyone remember that Ciao Ferreira we were supposed to be signings? I wondered what ever happened to him, so googled him and came up with his Facebook and his picture is him in the newcastle training gear.

Obvisously it never happened but if in 5 years he is a world superstar, he is the one who got away.

Toon 1978…how do transfers take longer than they used to?

Theres alot to deal with and i think the current regime keeps things quiet, like perch, routledge, best and that just came out of nothing

Id rather have it done that way, than say when we brought luque.

Who brought Wise and Keegan to the club mate, i think you will find it was Ashley. With regards to the players well you could blame any players from any club for the state of their parent club.

Toon1978, you are of course correct. But I do think it’s time to but it behind us now, As sad as it is Ashley is the owner. We have to support the club and get used to/accept Ashley as the person who has the reins in his hands. As slazberger says “i know most arent happy abou it but ashley is part of the club and if we dont stick together the press will have a field day this season”.

Yes you are correct. Time to move on and accept that he is the club owner. On a positive side he has ploughed millions into the club to keep us afloat.

toonsy, it’s a very naive way to judge a player. Yes, they should score goals, but if they can bring other players into the game and help a player score twice as many goals as they would then is that not better?

Think about Ranger. He has an awful scoring ratio for us, but most people would say he’s our most complete striker and will probably turn out better than Carroll
