17 year-old Haris Vuckic will be in the first team squad for next season and Newcastle manager Chris Hughton says the fans should expect to see more of him next season in the Premiership.
Haris Vuckic – 17 year-old Slovenian – big chance next season
Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:
“Haris has trained with the first team and will do so again next season – we’ll be seeing more of him."
“Then you have a batch of players who were successful in the FA Youth Cup and are now part of what we call the development squad – the link between the Academy and first team.”
“They’ll be based with us at the first-team base.” “We value them very highly, but do I see them coming into the first team soon?”
“That will be up to them.” “They have been told the door is ajar and it can be pushed open.” “They’ve got a good future ahead of them but we need experience and quality.”
“But as I say, it’s up them.” “Realistically one or two of them might get their chance but they all know that they can push their way into the side.”
With Newcastle concentrating a lot more on youth development every summer, we’ll see some new youngsters introduced either into the development squad, or into the first team squad proper.
But we also expect Newcastle to continue to take in two youngsters from the top English clubs, for season-long loan deals.
That sets up Newcastle to be a possible future club for those youngsters, should they not make it at their parent clubs, and serves a number of good purposes for Newcastle – like getting a top young player playing for them.
And Newcastle will continue to loan out some of their best young players to other clubs, in order for them to get first team experience, in their development process, as they learn their trade.

Comment #43Sounds like Steven Taylor might be staying then which is great news. Sturridge would be an awesome loan signing if that’s true too, another good young English player to join the ranks

Comment #44It come from one of our youngsters step father, who i spoke to earlier. He had been speaking to goslings old man this weekend, the story about sturridge came from one of my pals who used to go to school with him in Coventry somewere, I know he was not to happy at Chelsea but didn’t realise we would be in for him, I’m not saying this sturridge story is coming from a reliable source or anything but he seemed to be telling the truth. As for when gosling signs, he wasn’t so sure but said by the end of the week everything should be sealed.

Comment #47Abit off topic but I’m really looking forward to seeing routledge in the prem, I beleive he could be a real star, he has bags of pace and skill, also good strength and very good vision, he also has alot of end product, I beleive he could be like a Valencia in the prem.

Comment #4917 goals in his first season here then plagued by injuries and $hit load of managers that always played Owen “if fit” before him!
Lol, won’t be missed! What we’d do for a striker that would score 17 goals for us this season.

Comment #51I think Carroll will get between 11-15 this season, wich brings me to who would we prefer djalo or erdinic? I have seen that yannick player a few tines and have always been impressed, but I don’t know a great deal about the Turk. Anyone?

Comment #58i dont think his injury record was that bad, nothing as bad as some players have endured. as for his mother, fair point, but he was bad at wolfburg too… not to mention he argued with shearer when he came in to steady the ship and owed his reps 300K that they had to go to court over… oh, and getting arrested for doing 100mph+… yeah, great guy, great player…. no thanks
and he only scored 6 goals for wolfburg last term… he’s going from strength to strength eh!
HTL, he may of been our best striker since shearer… but what does that tell ya? we’ve had dire strikers for a while!!

Comment #59He’ll always be high in my estimation ever since he played the day after his mum died.
I don’t care what his reasons were for it, but he did it and it just goes to show that he did have a passion playing for us

Comment #61I liked Martins thought he was unlucky sometimes Owen was always prefered, he was at times pushed out to the left wing. If only he could score from 6 yards out he would be deadly. I’ll remember him for that bullet against Spurs.

Comment #62yeah martins did sore some great goals Flop and at times showed glimpses of brilliance but i just feel too few and far between.
i hope carroll steps up to the prem this term… shola has always struggled so it’d going to be carroll and lovenkrands to lead us into the goals this time around… shola needs to be moved on, but only if we can get a proven striker in.
routledge impressed last term, lets hope he keeps it up, very promising though, as with guthrie… jonas still needs to improve his final ball either infront of goal or crossing. nolan will no doubt captain the side
tayls colo and williams all looked good in the CCC, lets hope that continues.
there’s a lot of hoping going on!

Comment #67I am loving the intelligent arguements on here regarding loan signings, I totally agree with the view that having too many loan signings at your club hinders youth development, however there are some positives
1. The aforementioned relationship the player forms with the club, danny simpson for example. If we had the money im sure van aanholt would have made the move also. There are plenty examples of loanees moving to the loan clubs all across the premier league, it could be a shrewd tactic by hughton to get a cleverly to play in front of the newcastle fanatics and have him fall in love with the club.
2. competition, with all this talk about vuckic stepping up its important for him to have competition for his place, rather than him feel like he deserves it outright, make him prove himself to the manager which will make him a more determined all round player. That being said bringing too many loan signings in is definatly a negative and would prove we are a feeder club to the larger clubs like the top 4.
3. Lets be honest transfer fees are so ridiculously inflated its getting ridiculous. a loan signing is small risk and can potentially provide dividends. Im glad this time round we are looking at loans and not inflated transfer fees for unproven players. see Xisco, luque (list goes on) imagine how much money we would have saved if we would have loaned these players as opposed to signing them! Not just us all across the board haha imagine how much manure would have saved if they loaned owen hargreaves hahahahahaha thats the laughing stock of the premier league, I wonder how much he is being paid to be on the treatment table

Comment #68@gatesheadmag. I dont think so, for some players i think actually playing is important I think gosling would realise that if he was playing for manure chelski arsenal etc. he would have no playing time whatsoever. He sounds intelligent enough to see that if he plays well enough for us those clubs will try and purchase him and he would get more playing time through this course of action as oppossed to outright signing for them at this age.

Comment #69I think CH has had to bring Haris in, otherwise we would have lost him to Chelski, ManUre.
