Injured Danny Simpson has been out at the Newcastle boot camp with the rest of the players in Dublin, Ireland, this last week.
Danny Simpson – with the rest of the lads in Dublin, Ireland
Hughton talked about Danny boy to the Evening Chronicle today from Ireland:
“Danny’s our only injury at the moment, but it still made a lot of sense to bring him over here with us.”
“There was no point leaving him and the physio back in Newcastle, and it’s been a chance for him to work on his rehab over here too.”
“This is a group experience and I wanted him to be part of that.” “He’s making good progress and there are no new injury problems in the camp so far.”
“He’s desperate to play for us again – there’s never any problem with his attitude.” “He’s a good lad and there was never any danger of him not getting through the work he’s been set.”
Simpson picked up a serious tendon injury late in the season, and kept playing with it – which obviously didn’t help at all.
And then immediately after the last day 1-0 victory at QPR, he had an operation on the ankle, and the surgeon found that it was much worse than expected.
And it was typical Chris Hughton that he had Danny with him in Dublin, so he could work on his rehab and still be with the rest of the Newcastle players for their bonding sessions in the Emerald Isle.
