Gosling Sighted In Ireland With Newcastle Squad – Good!

News down here in Plymouth, South Devon today,  that former Plymouth Argyle player Dan Gosling has been seen in Dublin, Ireland,  with the Newcastle United squad this week.

Dan Gosling – with Newcastle squad in Dublin – good!

Earlier in the week, the news broke (actually on Sunday night in the Daily Mirror) that Dan had in fact chosen Newcastle United, from a host of clubs who had been interested in the free agent from Everton.

The 20-year old England under-21 international had talks with Bolton, West Ham, Sunderland and reportedly one other Premier League side (wonder who?), since the PL ruled that he could leave the Goodison club, because they had not offered him a new contract in writing by a mid-May cut-off date.

It looks definite that the player is waiting to sing for Newcastle United, and he will be a fantastic singing for the club, but the deal is still being held in abeyance, until the Toffees decide whether to appeal the  Premier League ruling.

Everton have until next Friday to officially appeal that ruling, and we would expect them to do that – but you never know.

We saw a lot of comments asking us if Gosling has signed – well we have no idea – but it’s fairly obvious he hasn’t yet – but we expect the lad to sign once the appeal process completes it’s cycle.

But the Newcastle club are probably very wise to say nothing until it’s all been completely tied up, including what, if any,  fee Newcastle will have to pay for the player.

We hope of course,  it’s for nothing.

But there’s little doubt this would be tremendous coup for the Newcastle club, and another fabulous deal.

Comments welcome.

What’s everyones veiws on the signing of gosling? Personally I think it is an unbeleivable coup. I would have been happy to see us sign him for 6-7 mill as I beleive he has that much potential, he is also a qaulity right back.

GG7 – I don’t rate him very highly personally. It’s good to get a young player on a free who has potential but I’m not too impressed.

Watched him a few times last season, and he reminded me a little of a young scott parker in his Charlton days. An excellent signing if it comes off.

I would love Keane in the No10 shirt but only if we dont get Joe Cole!! 😉

I dont think we would get Keane either, why would he come to us when he can have champs league football at Spuds or Celtic?

An excellent acquisition if it comes off as a freeby, although shame he’s injured for the next 3 months which tells me we’ll bring in a young loanee for the first half of the season as cover.

Still need another 2 to 3 players and we’ll be ok next season; hopefully finish around 10~12 in PL

nr 9 shirt for Keane, Craig? Bad boy.

He was shit last time he played in the prem, and is old. Give me a younger, hungrier and faster striker!

TheMags @ 17. Was that for me?

There is nothing that supports a Annan move to Newcastle. Look at my posts on the Annan article on this blog.

Woo Hoo! we’ve signed the 6th choice Everton Midfielder who is injured and can’t play for us until at least November, this is brilliant news!!!! And as for you other delusional people, Hunterlaar, Keane & Cole? get real. We’re more likely to build a Tardis and go back and sign Supermac or clone Wor Jackie.

newsutd – maybe was little crazy saying number 9 lol jus feel they guna give it to carroll but i dont think he has earned it!! i watched him lot last season and av came to conclusion he only good with his head ! def not number 9 quality ! unless he starts using his feet to score!

I agree I dont think Carroll’s ready for the No9 shirt, but maybe our new striker will be.

Glenn – Of course people like that arent going to come to us, but nowt wrong with a little bit of banter.

Getting a little carried away here folks ?
Forget Keane and only inyour dreams will J. Cole arrive.
Did you forget who`s club this is and the statement that was issued earlier by the club (yes i realise no one fully understood what was meant by it)
And going by what`s happened, one free Gosling and one cheap Perch.
Now it`s Joe Cole, c`mon get real !

Slightly off topic but I was talking to Nobby Solano on Saturday evening and asked if he was coming back to the Toon and he said maybe in a coaching role ! He could teach Guthrie how to cross and take corners !
