News down here in Plymouth, South Devon today, that former Plymouth Argyle player Dan Gosling has been seen in Dublin, Ireland, with the Newcastle United squad this week.
Dan Gosling – with Newcastle squad in Dublin – good!
Earlier in the week, the news broke (actually on Sunday night in the Daily Mirror) that Dan had in fact chosen Newcastle United, from a host of clubs who had been interested in the free agent from Everton.
The 20-year old England under-21 international had talks with Bolton, West Ham, Sunderland and reportedly one other Premier League side (wonder who?), since the PL ruled that he could leave the Goodison club, because they had not offered him a new contract in writing by a mid-May cut-off date.
It looks definite that the player is waiting to sing for Newcastle United, and he will be a fantastic singing for the club, but the deal is still being held in abeyance, until the Toffees decide whether to appeal the Premier League ruling.
Everton have until next Friday to officially appeal that ruling, and we would expect them to do that – but you never know.
We saw a lot of comments asking us if Gosling has signed – well we have no idea – but it’s fairly obvious he hasn’t yet – but we expect the lad to sign once the appeal process completes it’s cycle.
But the Newcastle club are probably very wise to say nothing until it’s all been completely tied up, including what, if any, fee Newcastle will have to pay for the player.
We hope of course, it’s for nothing.
But there’s little doubt this would be tremendous coup for the Newcastle club, and another fabulous deal.
