Taylor Focused On His Football – Not On His New Contract

Steven Taylor is in negotiations for a new contract at Newcastle, the only club he has ever been at.

Steven Taylor – to sign new contract at Newcastle

Steven is one of the local lads, along with 6’4″ Andy Carroll, who the Tyneside club are keen to sign to new long term contracts, and the sooner Steven is tied up for a few more seasons at Newcastle, the better it will be, as far as we are concerned.

But from what he has told the Evening Chronicle, the 24 year-old doesn’t seem too bothered about the contract talks, as he said:

“Hopefully, it’ll get sorted. I’ve got a year left on my contract, and my agent’s in talks with the club.

“I’ve left it to him – that’s the best thing for me, as I just want to play football. That’s all I’m focused on.”

At one time Steven’s father was his agent, so it’s good he has an agent these days, and we have to believe it will get sorted out soon.

Taylor’s contract expires at the end of June next year,  and Steven is already on a sizable wage at Newcastle, thought to be around £35K/week.

But we think he’ll get a slight increase on that in his new contract – it’s important to keep the lads who live and breathe Newcastle United at the club –  and Steven is certianly one of those.

Important we tie the boy down for the next 3 to 4 years as he’s a key player for us in the centre of defence…..
