Hughton – Steven Taylor Injury Is A Concern

Saturday’s 3-0 win at Carlisle was an excellent start to pre-season by Newcastle, with goals in the second half from Leon Best, Haris Vuckic and Nile – the lone Ranger.

Nile Ranger – good goal yesterday

The only black mark on Saturday’s win at Brunton Park was another injury to Steven Taylor.

Chris Hughton said:

“The center-back left the field in some pain after injuring his shoulder late in the second-half.”“He was able to travel back with the rest of the squad on the team bus and did not go to hospital as had been initially feared.”

“We will have to assess it. It is a concern, but we don’t know how bad it is. He has had problems with his shoulder in the past, but hopefully he will be okay. We’ll know more over the next few days.”

Best opened the scoring with Nile Ranger and Haris Vuckic finishing off the scoring, and we must say it was great to see Leon notch his first goal ever for the Tyneside club.

Hughton talked about Best yesterday:

“Leon has come back looking very sharp.” “It’s his first goal in a Newcastle shirt and that is something special.”

There’s not much more you can ask of a player, after a mediocre first 6 months at the club, then come back in pre-season and look sharp and get stuck in and start proving yourself at Newcastle.

That’s just exactly what we hope Leon Best will do next season.

HET: Why would you want a Newcastle player to be ‘hammered’ by our opponents? Surely if our strikers aren’t doing well, the rest of the team is unlikely to be either.

Do you want Newcastle to do poorly? Does that make you a supporter, or a Makem?

Every comment of yours I read seems to be overly negative. How is that supporting Newcastle Utd?

Hopefully his injury is not too bad. We need him he is our heart at the back 4.
