Newcastle Linked With Nigerian International Full-Back

Another player linked with Newcastle United yesterday, in the Sunday papers,  was Olympique Marseilles left full-back Taye Taiwo.

Taye Taiwo – 25 year-old Nigerian International

The 25 year-old Nigerian International looks a good player and has been at Marseilles since 2003, and played over 160 games for the French club with 3 goals.

The Sunday Sun was the paper reporting Newcastle’s interest yesterday and he seems to be of an age and talent that would interest the Newcastle United club.

The 6′ player is famous for his free-kicks, ands reports suggest he wants to leave Marseilles this summer.

The Lagos, Nigeria born player has already been linked with Europa Cup Champions, Atletico Madrid, although a move to the Premier League would be hard to turn down.

If this report is true, then presumably we would be brought in to challenge Spanish U21 International Jose Enrique, for the left-back position on Tyneside.

But we have no idea if there is any truth to this report.

Comments welcome.

Henok, is there a player your not an expert on? You must spend every waking moment watching football (sorry scouting players) or do you now get coaching badges for a high score on your ps3 & watching players on you-tube? Taiwo (sp?) is also being linked with liverpool, does this mean that roy hodgson also doesn’t know what he’s doing either? Lord save us from these armchair experts.

Never mind the gloves Sav, look at the quality of the shirt. Much nicer than the Puma tat. Got my blue on Sat, and the clicks are in it already after one wear… Its Asics all over again.

Taiwo is quality, but is a far too costly player. Specially when we have our best player in that position in that position. Van Aanholt on loan would be the absolute most ideal.

Erm what a silly signing he would be, spending alot of money on a left back when he have enrique.

This story is clearly made up

And henok, you’re moaning at Hughton for being linked with a player that is clearly not true. You ask what Hughton is doing…well i can answer. He got us promoted with a originally demorilised squad when noone else wanted the job, made some great signings in routledge and Williamson in January, got Gosling in this transfer window and is operating with a limited budget.

Moaning at Hughton is ridiculous and quite honestly pathetic.

Taiwo is great, he has some insane free kicks, straight with power like Shearer used too………but we don’t need him…Enrique is just as good…if not better…

We have Enrique who is a powerhouse. Why would we want this monkey?

Baro thats a bit racist comment imo,,,and this ”MONKEY” is wanted by almost every ”POWERHOUSE”clubs such as Juventus,Liverpool,Schalke,Atl Madrid,Tottenham, etc.

His club won the French League,he’s playing CL football every year,,,ou yeah Enrique won the CCL i forgot.

I’m a die hard NUFC fan and one of the first bloggers on this site,,,but unlike others i never underestimate any player and saying that our player is much better than him where deep inside me i know its not true.

Taiwo is 1 class above Enrique atm,,how its gonna be in couple of years from now only god knows,,but for now Taiwo is just a dream for us.

we have a decent left back and this player may or may not be better than him but do you not think that we should be spending whatever funds we have on a striker and another winger as we are a bit light on numbers when it comes to wingers and unless best has the season of his life then we definately need a top class forward with pace to sit alongside carroll who could be going to jail anyway.

probably just a made up rumour anyway.

a cheap leftback to cover for the bull would do as i know we are a bit light on leftbacks aswell.

Very much doubt if we will be signing him, although it`s not the first time we have been linked with him.
Too expensive plus we have a decent LB and only need cover for him, Van Aanholt would be my choice if available.
