Newcastle Reported After Croatian International Striker

The Sunday Sun yesterday reported that Sporting Gijon striker, Mate Bilic,  is interesting the Newcastle United club.

Mate Bilic – Croatian International striker

It’s a report about a transfer on a Sunday – so reader beware.

The news comes from Spanish sources that Newcastle are keeping an eye on Gijon striker Bilic, as they look for extra striking power up front, but the player turns 30 in October, and we hardly think a player that old is who Chris Hughton will be after this summer.

The 6′ striker has played for Croatia 4 times with 3 goals, making his debut last year, and had been at 7 different clubs before joining Gijon in 2008, where he has played 90 times with 27 goals.

The news is that the Croatian would cost up to £2M, but we have a hard job believing there’s any truth in this report – in fact a very hard job believing there’s any truth in this report.
