Ben Tozer Released By Newcastle – On Trial At Leyton Orient?

One young player who didn’t so as well as we had expected at Newcastle is 20 year-old Ben Tozer.

Ben Tozer – has he left Newcastle?

In fact Ben was the very first player signed, as apart of the new Youth Policy push from owner Mike Ashley, and the lad was signed from Swindon Town in early January, 2008.

As of July 18th, Tozer has been on trial at Leyton Orient, with the possibility of a permanent move to the London club.

We didn’t realize this, and nothing as far as we know has been made public by the club, but it does look Tozer has been released by Newcastle.

Tozer made only one appearance, and he did not gave a good game, and it could be a move to another club is the best thing for the lad.

Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade is still deciding whether to offer the former Plymouth and Swindon player a contract.

We looked at the official site and Ben is still down there, so we don’t know if the club want to get him fixed up first somewhere, and just announce that – or exactly what is going on.

But the example of Ben shows just how tenuous a football career can be – and you never really know which players will make the grade.

But we do wish Ben all the best and really hope he can still have a successful football career – but it will not be at Newcastle United, it would appear.

Comments welcome.

Hasn’t been released Ed. Nufc.com confirm contracted still until 2012 and a mate confirmed Tozer himself says he is still a Newcastle player.

yeah have a look at nufc.com. its a loan signing. Also he has a contract until 2012, that would cost the club a lot to just release. Hes had lots of injuries so i think its more for him to get some first team experience at a lower level. Dont forget we paid 1 million for him i doubt we would let him go like that.

It is likely he is on trial with a view to a loan deal. However, if the coaches have decided he isn’t going to make the cut, they could have bought out his contract and released him.

Hopefully being sent out on loan for a season as he’s at an age where he needs regular first team football if he’s to show his true potential….

He needs a chance to develop elsewhere obviously. Wish him well and perhaps we can get him back when he is ready. It does mean some others will not be going on loan after all perhaps.

No I enjoy reading the blog. I just think the above is an error that could have been easily avoided. It’s been reported incorrectly. That annoys me. So does the name Wes.
