There is already a problem with injuries with Newcastle this pre-season, after Steven Taylor had to leave the field 10 minutes from the end of the game on Saturday at Carlisle United.
Steven Taylor – we are hoping injury is not too serious
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton talked about the injury and told the Evening Chronicle:
“The fact he’s come off is obviously a big concern for us.” “I won’t find out the extend until later on.”“He’s felt his shoulder, and we hope it’s minimal.”
Of course Newcastle got off to a good start to their pre-season at Brunton Park on Saturday, with three well-taken goals from Leon Best, Nile Ranger and Haris Vuckic, all in the second half.
The pick of the bunch was the last goal from Vuckic, and this lad certainly seems to have an eye for goal.
Ir was also good to see Leon score his first goal for the club, and that should give the 23 year-old some confidence, after a less than stellar start to his Newcastle career.
“It was probably as we expected.” “Carlisle were a week in front of us in their preparations.”“We knew because of the quality they’ve got it would be a tight affair in that first half.”
“What generally happens is that the game opens up over a period of time, and it’s who is able to capitalise on that.”
“We were, and I think we could have got more, but it was certainly a competitive game in that second half as well.”
Maybe there will be some news about Steven Taylor today, but we have to hope it’s not too serious.
Steven did return with the rest of the squad, after the game, so we hope there is not too much damage to his shoulder.
It would be heart-breaking for the Greenwich-born player to be out again with another injury, after just recovering from his serious knee ligament injury he sustained in January, and caused him to miss the rest of the season.
