Dan Gosling To Wear Number 15 Shirt At Newcastle

Dan Gosling was at the Newcastle training center at Benton today, as the new Newcastle signing is the current Toast of the Toon.

Dan Gosling – glad to be at Newcastle United

Dan will wear the number 15 Newcastle shirt, and has had his name emblazoned across the back of the shirt  today.

This is only the second real signing of the summer, following the capture of James Perch from Forest, but they are two good signings for different reasons, one a defender and one a midfielder.

Of course there is news of four or five possible signings almost every day now. 😀

The 20-year-old, who was born in Brixham, Devon (we had said Plymouth earlier – that was  an error- apologies), can also play at full-back.

He has some months still left ion his recovery of an ACL injury to his knee he picked up at the end of March – in what was his last game for the Merseyside club.

Dan Gosling – sustains bad knee injury on 27th March

The midfielder ruptured his cruciate knee ligament after a clash with the Wolverhampton goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, in the closing minutes of the 0-0 draw – and the assessment was that he would be out for up to 9 months – which basically says he’ll come back at the end of this year.

But it could be earlier than that, since he has been making a good recovery from all reports.

Comments welcome.

Brilliant! Now bring in Campbell, Van Aanholt and a nice Winger (maybe on loan).

“But it could be earlier than that, since he has been making a good recovery from all reports.”

Don’t rush him back, especially not from ACL replacement. We have 4 other established central midfielders and an up and coming youngseter who can play in the middl e of the park.

With everyone fit I think we have a decent mid table side.

    Harps
    Taylor S Collocini Williamson Enrique

    Gosling Guthrie
    Routledge Jonas
    Barton

    Carrol

Subs – Krull, Kadar, Simpson, Smith, Vukic, Nolan, Lovenkrands

Still think LB is the biggest priority, getting PVA back, even if only for a season long loan, would be fantastic.

Lets get Patrick Van Aanholt and a really good striker. Perhaps 2nd shot at Mevlut Erdinc or offering Hatem Ben Arfa. We desparetly need some creativity.

chears shearerwe do have alot of cm’s its going to be tough trying to keep them all happy as they are not going to want sitting on the bench or played out of position but its more numbers to the squad.

If we get a quality winger and striker and I think we are sorted also I am hoping barton will have a great season

ben arfa is not a classic striker, more of a creative free flowing winger. Don’t get me wrong but espicially since Houghton denied the rumour earlier this day, I don’t think he is realistic.

I would love van Aanholt, Morimoto and De Guzman on a free as winger.

    Good news today haha.
Wish can add Van Aanholt, one speed and classic striker and wing. Then add 2 loans then would be prefect!!!

#15 Hey not a bad number. But, Nacho Gonzalez wore it last. So that is some bad history on it. 🙂

There was an article in my local newspaper (The Journal) that Hughton has said Ben Arfa, Campbell, Hooper and Raul will not be coming to NUFC but that we are on the look out for 3 more player ie Defender, Midfielder and a striker. We should bring Aanholt in as our defender either full time or maybe on a years loan. As for a wide man and striker i am at a loss at who may be available. We need a pacey striker a little like Bellamy and as for a wide man well i ain’t a clue who may be available.

Hughton has denied alot of the rumours but said about Campbell “no progress ” which kinda means they’ve discussed something! He’s (Campbell) on his honeymoon so doubt anything would be sorted ’til after.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens and not believe the press too much 😉

I’d say we’re a third of the way there, more work (signings) needed.

I know its Tribalfootball.com But Asamoah Gyan to Newcastle would be the best transfer this year for us. He is awesome. But again most likely fake.

Gosling is a great signing for us and surely a future star.
If we get van aahnholt (on loan) he can operate as a left back and a winger. He has pace and knows where the box is (killing two birds with one stone)
we should also do everthin we can and more to bring in a top striker like bellamy, keane or djalo. The first two age and wage I know but saving on a wingers wages you could pay for one of them…………?

de guzman and van anholt please!!

seriously though de guzman is perfect, he is 22 year old can be played on the wings or upfront, arsenal wanted him a few years back for 12 million and he is available to us for FREE!

like uve sed jsyproject houghton has never mentioned this story either it is so made up that reporters havent even picked up on it and mentioned it, or he is interested but looking at it,what ive said above he must be interested I think we should all pay allot more interest in this rumour it could be the one that happens.

    Hi guys,
I’m really happy about the Gosling signing and think he can develop into a really good player, hopefully knocking on England’s door sooner rather than later!
As far as the next few pre season games are concerned, I’d quite like to see Phil Airey getting a run out. He’s been knocking in goals for the reserves (he scored two and Nile scored the other in our 3-3 draw against a Celtic XI) I just think it would be nice to see what hes got because thats what these games are for really?!?!
Hopefully Chris gets a good strong striker in that can support Carroll in the Prem, although I do rate Lovenkrands given his form after the loss of his father, he looks a new player, but is he good enough against the likes of Vidic, Ferdinand and Terry? I’m not sure.
As far as Sol Campbell is concerned I think we can attract a much younger player in that won’t take up huge wages that would be able to do what Campbell would offer us. But that’s just me!
Would love to see Wilshere come on loan and Weiss, as the Blog’s poll suggests I guess most of you agree?!
Never boring to be a Newcastle fan in the transfer window anyway, that’s for sure!

Appearantly Chris Hughton has not ruled out Hatem Ben Arfa who in my opinion will terrorize defences for us. No contact made but not ruled out.

Not sure if Otamendi is true story, but anyways he is a pretty strong defender. He is the position we need right back ( Have plenty of RB’s but its Premier League now!) but not sure he is the right type of defender we need.
