Newcastle In Discussions For Two 23 Year-Old French Players

News today that Newcastle are still interested in St Etienne defender Yohan Benalouane and Marseilles midfielder Ben Arfa.

.

St Etienne defender Yohan Benalouane – Newcastle interested

Yohan Benalouane is 23 years old, stands 6’1″ tall, and is a French footballer of Tunisian descent, and has played over 70 times for French Ligue 1 club Saint-Étienne.

According to French sources today, Hughton still wants reinforcements for the back four, and he still wants new players in midfield and up front.

The Journal is reporting today that despite the club’s denials, Newcastle are now in discussions with Marseilles about midfield play-maker Hatem Ben Arfa, and want to get some kind of deal worked out before the season begins in just over three weeks time.

Certainly Ben Arfa would be a great signing for Newcastle fans, because he has skills galore, and according to Chris Hughton – is a cracking player.

However, there are a number of clubs in for the Frenchman, and whether or not Newcastle can again be successful, as they have been with Gosling and Campbell is not clear.

So, as we mentioned yesterday, there are other players Chris is still pursuing and the influx of players to Newcastle this season seems nowhere near over.

Mind you I think I’d prefer Djalo as Arfa seems to have an poor attitude .. mind you if Arfa can follow in the footsteps of Ginola/Robert I don’t care 🙂

Are we going to be linked with a centre forward as we need one! Carroll & Lovenkrands for me have to start as things stand but with Xisco, Ameobi, Best & Ranger behind them its clear we dont have a 20 goals a season striker (in fact I dont see 20 goals between that 4).

He wants CL Football so we may find it hard to attract him to our club.

We need a LB, a wide man and a striker all positions we are crying out for yet Hughton seems to favour bringing in CB lol.

their isnt many teams who have a 20 goal striker in the premier league any more. i think most will be looking for 10 – 15 from their main striker apart from the top 5 or six teams

    Forgot their papers eh?

I wonder whether and when they get to wherever they’re supposed to be going, they’ll remember why they went in the first place!

Always an eye for the detail eh!!

if we can get ben arfa then maybe we should think about loaning an already established striker from a club with too many players.

i do agree with some others about the downfalls of loaning youngsters from other clubs but a loan for someone like robbie keane or sant cruz might be an option. suppose we will have to wait until the end of august for that kind of thing so it could be a risk.

Robbie Keane on loan playing off Carroll, yes please! Spurs won’t want him in there 25 man squad so its our chance to pick him up for a season, might be high wages but for 1 seasons loan I don’t care… if he is on 50k-60k which its reported, offer to pay 60% wages or something and we could get him hopefully!

Thoughts? I think it makes sense as IF we don’t have the funds for a decent quick goal poacher then this would seem a sensible alternative where we can put it off till next summer?

Are there no english talent around that are good enough? In my view, and i’m norwegian, english fottball are digging their own grave. At the last game in the premiership, there was only 35 with english passport that started the match, and 23 of them paly on your nationalteam. Then you understand that there aren’t many to pick from to make a better english team,so there must be more good work at the academies around britain, that’s where new players should been picked from.I’m so proud to be a toon supporter and i would love to see more of our own breed young talents.

lesh .. agreed .. strange how they can forget papers .. mind you it sounds like he’s holding out for a different club and since Milan etc have confirmed they aren’t gonna move for him he’s reconsidered and is now open to moving to us .. sloppy seconds eh .. still we need a player of his ability .. but if only we could get someone like that and Djalo whos banging goals in at the minute .. he got 2 against the spuds which is always good to see 🙂

If we got eidur I would cry, would much prefer Robbia keane or bellers, I think we will get Ben arfa, and I hope we get that young French defender. I believe we would then be sorted. With a squad that could compete in the 14th-8th in the league.

geordielad880 .. eidur .. where’d you hear that .. he’s not the sort of player we need .. and did he not recently sign for spuds?? Surely we’re looking for a pacey striker to work off the number 9 ..

robbie keane always had a habit of scoring at sjp, even though he was normally on the losing side.
i know he was rubbish for liverpool but he was fantastic for tottenham.

not quite sure about his pace but he definatly puts in the effort.

i would class eidur more of a CM/AM player these days, i have always thought he can keep the ball really well and spray it around the park. i cant see where he would fit in apart from competition for nolan

Eidur gudjohnson has knocked back NUFC more often then i can remember. NO, NO, NO to him. Bring back Bellamy. Although Bellamy and Ben Arfa would probably disrupt the harmony at the club. Two players that i think are sadly out of our reach but what harM does a little wishing do lol.

I would take Bellamy back, if he would come, his pace was always too much for defenders to cope with his only (footballing) problem is fitness.

I would much prefer experience over talent, we all know how talented players can wilt in the PL.

imo a team needs a mix of everything, pace and vision, experience and youth. its no good having pace if we dont have a player who can find the pass. and i think young players go into a game with no fear but need expeirienced players to talk to them on the pitch.

i think Bellamy on loan for a season would be the best option, he could also cover the wing.

Hitting two birds with one stone?

he is also a good player.

    and would excel under CH.

yeah i agree nufc_richyg01, I for one think he might be tempted, but i think he would only on a perm deal, but who knows, cant see hughton been interested, if we signed the players we were linked to we would have a good team:-

    ————————–harper

    onouha——-campbell——-collocini—enrique

    guiterrez——-barton———guthrie—–ben afra

    ——————carroll——–bellamy

gudjohnson has been linked with us almost every single cose season bar last season snce he lft Chelski so that wont happen. Would love to see either Keane of Bellamy on loan (though how long before a Carroll Bellers bust up in training?) Also Roque Santa Cruz & Jo must be surplus to requirments at Citeh. Away from strikers its all gone quiet concerning O’Hara & another player who was/is/will be moving Kevin Prince Boetang.
