Are Newcastle Still Interested In Jlloyd Samuel?

Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle said yesterday that Newcastle United have not followed up their initial interest in defender Jlloyd Samuel.

Jlloyd Samuel – are Newcastle still after this player?

But Owen has not given up on being able to do a deal with the famous Magpies club, and has already informed the player of the Newcastle interest.

And we had thought early last week that because Marcos Alonso has now arrived at Bolton from Real Madrid, it would clear the way for Coyle to unload some of his defenders.

Coyle has  confirmed that he has spoken to Newcastle manager Chris Hughton regarding the player but no further moves have been made by the Tyneside club, so has Chris some other defensive targets he is after – who be a little younger than 289 year-old Jlloyd?

Coyle told The Bolton News:

“I had a conversation with Chris Hughton at the time because the player’s name had been mentioned without anyone having any dialogue with m”

“And he said that Jlloyd was on his list – he didn’t mention whether that was at the top, middle or bottom.”

“I informed Jlloyd but it hasn’t moved on from there.”

We expect some signings soon, and with Chris only yesterday saying new players could be arriving we expect the next one through the door to be sooner rather than later – and maybe next week.

Comments welcome.

Wouldn’t really bother going for J Lloyd as I can’t see what he’ll give us, and tbf I rate Tamas Kadaer higher than this guy!!

But, if we signed these players during the transfer window I would be impressed:

Hatem Ben Arfa ( Just the sort of creative spark we need)

Yannick Djalo ( Looks good and scored two great goals against Man City last week)

Seb Larsson ( Rumours about this guy have died down a litle recently but I rate him and is pretty versatile)

Patrick Van Aanholt ( We all know about this guy and I’d snap him up quick because he has loads of potential and could be a cracking player in the future)

What do you think about these possible targets, any good?

Seb Larsson and Ben Arfa are good players.

Dont know why we would buy Larsson though… We have all we need in midfield. Larson plays CM and RM. (barton, smudge, nolan, routledge, guthrie, vukic..) He could probably replace one of them to increase some quality, but I think we would have to pay like 5 mill for him, so its not worth it.

Ben Arfa is different. He would have a more offensive playmaking role, playing off a forward or as a winger.

Van Aanholt would be good yes.. cover for Enrique when his hamstring gets a stretch. But it comes down to the price on him aswell.. I would not waste cash on Van Aanholt if it means we won’t afford Ben Arfa for instance.

Personally I want Anthony Annan or Per Ciljan Skjelbred in to our club:)

this looks more like bolton are trying to drum up a bit of interest. i seem to remember they kicked up a fuss when hughton said he may be interested in him.

Personaly i think Samuel is way past it
i think we should target either Van Aanholt or Betrand from Chelsea as one should be surplus to requirments as they already have Cole

A left back option is Wilfred Bouma on a free would be a gamble but it might pay off
