Some of the pictures in the papers showing Sol Campbell back in training at Newcastle seemed to show he had put on some weight during the summer.
Sol Campbell – expanded waistline?
Sol had only just returned form his honymoon – so should have been in even better shape then before – isn’t how that goes?
And while one or two pictures could have an optical illusion that Sol was a little overweight, Chris Hughton has backed Sol Campbell to be very fit – sooner rather than later.
Campbell as expected was not involved in Newcastle’s 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven yesterday and will not be expected to play on Tuesday at Deportivo either.
“I can guarantee that having seen Sol in training he is in good shape.
“The important thing with Sol is that we have him fit. When you play someone too early and they are not conditioned there is the risk of injury.”
“I am very hopeful he can play some part against Rangers next Saturday. The judgment call we have to make is when he will be ready for Premier League football.”
So there you have it – he’s in shape – it’s official – by that first line in Chris’ statement – so no more rumors on Sol’s weight, otherwise we’ll tell his missus, and then you’ll be in trouble. 😀
