There is news today that Manchester United right winger midfielder Tom Cleverley is to decide this coming week, whether to join Blackpool or Newcastle on a season-long loan deal.
Tom Cleverley – Newcastle or Blackpool?
That must be a tough decision for Cleverley to make – but let’s face it, there’s a huge difference in the draw between Newcastle and Blackpool, and that’s not meant in any way to criticize the Blackpool club.
It’s just that Newcastle have been in the PL 16 of the last 17 seasons and this is the first season in the top flight for Blackpool – and in addition Newcastle can also draw a massive 52,000 in their home games at the famous St. James’ Park.
The capacity at the Bloomfield Road facility is 12,555.
But both clubs are after Tom, who is a highly rated player, and who was included on the recent tour of the USA by the Red Devils, and is not a guaranteed starter at Newcastle, and that could well put a damper on the deal, as far as Alex Ferguson is concerned.
Wayne Routledge is the starting right winger at Newcastle, and Chris Hughton may not be willing to sacrifice Routledge, for a player who will be on loan at Newcastle for just one season.
Alex Ferguson is keen for the 20-year old to gain some additional experience and the Basingstoke-born player himself wants Premier League action next season, after spending last season in the Championship with Watford.
Cleverley will meet with officials from both the Newcastle and Blackpool clubs this week before deciding which club to to sign for.
All things being equal it has to be Newcastle.
There was news last week that Chris Hughton was unwilling to guarantee that Tom will start at Newcastle, and we think that could well scupper the deal for Newcastle, however.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Sorry to say this, but Carroll is overrated. We need another striker with class, cause otherwise we will have a problem scoring goals IMO.
Cleverly is not needed. I don’t know why we want to loan him and maybe hold one of our youngsters on the bench. Hopefully the lad is clever himself and he chooses Blackpool.
Really would welcome Arevalo and Ben Arfa and then one good striker and we will be good next season IMO.

Comment #42yeah i agree about nolan and smith not playing together, i rate nolan higher than many on here and i do agree he looks poor next to smith as we often get outrun in the middle of the park, but i do think that his strength, agression and finishing can be a vital asset for us this season.
also psv did pass the ball very well but i thought that we did ourselves in the final 20 mins or so and we where probably unfortunate to not grab a winner although psv would have felt hard done by, if we had.
thank god we have a couple of quick footed wingers to play in the premier league.

Comment #43obafan i agree about carroll, but i will get behind him, we need to get behind the lads, its going to be a tough season, we have to gradually build a squad with the right players, and build slowly, bobby robson started off by signing kevin gallacher, what a signing he ended up been. I wish we had someone like gary speed in central midfield aswell, what a great pro he was

Comment #45darling27 i think its our only line up for man utd at the minute been honest, the only position up for grabs is right back, it picks itself, we have to go 4-5-1, otherwise they will just run us ragged

It is from PSV tv. And of course they want to show how good PSV was and did. For us they basically showed our goals. But don’t blame them its there television isn’t it. What we are trying to say is we looked a bit lazy and they scored.
