Newcastle have done quite well so far in their acquisition of new players to strengthen the squad ready for the Premier League next season.
Chris Hughton - wants more players in over next couple of weeks
Two good free transfers in Sol Campbell and Dan Gosling, and also a small fee paid to Nottingham Forest for James Perch, who looked very decent on Saturday at right-back for the Magpies, and could be the surprise of the season (we hope).
Chris Hughton told the Daily Mail today:
“It would be nice to get more players in over the next couple of weeks,”"Can I guarantee anything? Of course I can’t, but we’re working very hard on it.”
We never expected a lot of new players this summer, so if Chris can get another three in – maybe two of those on loan, then that would be a very decent summer transfer window for the Newcastle club.
After all, we are not like say Blackpool, who have never played in the PL before and we still have a substantial number of players who have played for Newcastle in the Premier League, and the squad was already quite solid after the January transfer window.
Of course the Premiership is a whole new ball-game and much more difficult then the Championship – as our opening game at Old Trafford proves.
Comments welcome.

I would not be nervous about sending our current team into the EPL but I would prefer 2 more signings.
An extra defender and a creative midfielder would be nice.
Dream: Otamendi and Ben Arfa…
We have plenty of strikers and we are most likely only going to play with one man up front so no need for an extra striker….

3 players are needed in my opinion to survive this year
A 2nd striker
A winger who can play both sides
and a utility man like perch and gosling
the players that would suit this would be
Doyle or Keane (both unlikelybut both would link up with Carrol well
Eagles would be a good wide choice
and as for a utility man
either richards or onuha one most be avialible and both can play all across the back

I think Chris will still get 2 signings in. Nedium Onuoha or Richards also a class striker, or winger like Hatem Ben Arfa.

anyone else agree with me when I say we DON’T need another striker…?
we have like 5……… and one of them havent had the chance to prove himself yet… still he was good enough for SpainU21.
Also we probably posess one of the greatest English striker talents around.
Also we have a quite solid looking midfield.. where Nolan can play off a striker. “Kinda” worked for him last seaseon;)
