Leon Best Getting To Grips Now At Newcastle

Leon Best scored another well taken goal on Saturday as he put home a great cross from a free-kick by Ryan Taylor, who also scored the first goal.

Leon Best – second pre-season goal on Saturday – great!

Leon had a hard time of it when he joined last January and one of the things missing in his play was goals.

But now that he has two already in pre-season,  that should do his confidence the world of good, and he just needs an early on in the Premier League and hopefully he’ll be on his way at Newcastle.

And Chrsi Hughotn had some good words to sat about Leon after the game:

“He came here at a time when he saw the progress of Andy Carroll and Peter Lovenkrands and wasn’t able to play the amount of games he would have liked,”

“But this is someone who had a very good goalscoring record for Coventry in the half-season before we brought him in, and I was very pleased for him.”

Xisco also looked good on Saturday and if we can get our existing players coming through and showing some decent form, that’s all to the good and will help the club survive next season in the world’s top football league.

leon best is a very under rated player…give him a run in the team and the goals will flow.

Am glad to see Best getting a decent run in pre-season. Am sick to the teeth of defending the bloke against the ‘get rid of him because he’s sh1t’ brigade. Best is a good player, who will come good. I know pre-season games are meaningless, but I reckon this guy will be good for 10-15 goals in the prem with a decent run in ths side.

Wasn’t convinced when he signed in January like a lot of people! but I really hope he goes and does it this season.

Remember seein him in the 2-2 all draw for the republic against italy when he came on and made a huge difference against a world class defence so the ability is there………here’s hopin the pre season run continues

Leon Best will get us 5-10 goals this season so he is definatly worth his place in the team but what happens if Carrol doesn’t come off i can see Best getting the odd goal as with Xisco who will lead the Newcastle attack

A striker who will definatly get 15 goals is what is needed to releive the pressure off Carrol

I dont rate Lovenkrands at all in the Premier League. I think unless we buy a striker Carroll and Best will be our top scorers unless CH gives Ameobi a whole lot of wasted chances as we all have seen couple of years ago.
