Brighton manager Gus Poyet has threatened to pull out of a deal to sign Kazenga LuaLua, if he cannot reach an agreement with Newcastle very soon.
Kazenga LuaLua – Brighton getting a little shirty
OK – so LuaLua will probably not arrive at Brighton for next season, because Chris Hughton is rightly taking his time before deciding what is the best option for his 19 year-old youngster.
And if Gus thinks he can push Chris and the Newcastle into making an early decision – he’s very much mistaken.
Poyet is apparently getting frustrated as the move has reached a stalemate and he told the Argus today:
“He made us think he was coming last week and then he didn’t. It’s not in our hands. We are looking to buy someone now.”
“Everything has got a limit. You cannot wait forever.” “We know the boy wants to come. Newcastle cannot make a decision. We are not going to wait.”
If we get someone, especially if we buy him, LuaLua is not coming.”
We would remind Poyet that Norwich were also frustrated they couldn’t tie up goalkeeper Fraser Forster for a quick loan deal in July, and they went out and signed goalkeeper John Ruddy from Everton.
And Chris will not be harried by Brighton, not when bigger clubs could well come in for the lad in the next few weeks.
There are many clubs that would be interested in taking the skillful Newcastle winger on loan next season, and maybe a Championship club would be the best option for the lad.
