Spurs And Newcastle In For Yannick Djalo

Spurs have opened talks over the £4M signing of Portugal striker Yannick Djalo from Sporting Lisbon, according to the Daily Mirror.

Yannick Djalo – Spurs and Newcastle after the striker

Spurs were in Lisbon last night to play a friendly against Portuguese Champions Benfica, who are short of money, and it could be they made progress in their negotiations with Sporting Lisbon, the other Lisbon club.

The Guinea-Bissau born player, who can also play on the wing, scored six goals last season, and Newcastle have had a reported interest in the player for several weeks now.

But it will be difficult to get the player to Tyneside, if Spurs are also in for the player, since they can offer European Champions League football next season.

The Mirror says that Newcastle are also interested, and that Djalo’s agent Lionel Silva has admitted his client wants to move to the Premier League.

With Chris Hughton saying recently more players will be coming to Newcastle, we have to believe Newcastle will make an out and out signing before the end of next week, but just who that may be – we have no idea.

I’m sorry Ed but the Spurts can’t offer European Champions League football just yet as they need to qualify for the tournament first, which we know isn’t as easy as it sounds, having failed it ourselves 🙁

looks like we’ve offered 800K for the loan with option to purchase for ben arfa .. and ben arfa wants to come .. only problem is hoffenheim maybe offering more .. but I don’t think he can be forced to join hoffenheim so expect something this week ..

as for djalo .. I think we’ve got him if spurs get bell end amy .. scored 2 against the spuds recently so he can do it against some of the temporary “better” teams. 🙂

Promising player but if spurs are interested we have little chance. He looked good scoring to quality goals against man city last week.

I think Djalo is maybe being a bit hyped up right now. I’m not saying it would be bad signing for us, but I actually hope that we have another striker in mind. Kevin Gameiro is an excellent young striker on the way up and there are also other alternatives. The other day it came to notice that Jose Ernesto Sosa is probably available for a sum of about 3 million euro and it would be an absolute coup! Imagine a young creative argentinian who would mould into our group easy, who can play on either flank and as a creative man with flair in the middle of the park! we SHOULD GET THIS MAN NOW!

I would love us to sign ben arfa, and maybe hutton or onouha, i think kadar is adequate cover for left back, i prefered him at left back than centre back last season when he played

geordielad880- Hutton has been gash since his injury. That team is worse than the one that got relegated so i dont see how it will compete this time round unfortunatly.

I dont think we can rely on carrol to get the goals to keep us up. He is good in the championship but i think he will find it much harder against premiership defences.

the difference is we play as a team now, not a team full of egos, players like guthrie, collo, enrique, jonas have got more experience and are so much better now, we have a decent defence already apart from at right back.
Hutton played well for the mackems, so dont know how you come to that conclusion, i would prefer onouha, because he can play centre back, and is younger, but dont think he would sign for us. Nolan struggled last time because he was inured when we signed him, and took ages to get back up to speed, barton never played, we never had sol campbell then, or routledge, its a different team, we might not have the so called big names, but we wont be relegated

we got relegated with 39 points, no team has ever been relegated with that amount of points in the pl before and we would have got about 14th or 15th i think last season with that tally.

micheal owen was probably a big reason why we got relegated and he was once a european player of the year so i dont think we can judge a team on personel alone.

our side/squad is as good as blackburn, stoke, birmingham and many other sides, it comes down to home form, injuries and a little luck aswell, if we dont get loads of injuries and carry on our good home record we will be fine, we need to keep st james like a fortress, we will play 4-5-1 alot this season, and alot of the football wont be pretty, but its results and securing prem safety that matter

geodielad- Are you having a laugh? Better than blackburn, stoke and birmingham? Do me a favour. We are better than blackpool, west brom and that is it!! We need at least 4 quality players to compete with any of the teams who finished in the bottom half of the table. If you think we are better than birmingham you are living in cuckoo land mate. I think a lot of fans are going to be brought back down to earth and realise our standing within the premiership after the first 5 games. If anyone thinks we will finish in the top half with our paper thin squad they are mistaken.

G . Correct me if i am wrong but didnt birmingham go 12 games unbeaten and finish ninth. I am probably way off but they were an outside bet for europe near the end of the seson. No way on earth is our first 11 or squad even on a par with them . They also have a much better manager.

I agree that the manager was the biggest difference, but I would have our first choice 11 against theirs any day of the week. Brum last season was a classic example of a team outperforming the sum of its parts. I think Brum will be hovering down the bottom end of the table this season. Like Hull the season before last, now they are sussed, and they will have a far inferior keeper this season by the looks of things.

    1. We need Ben Arfa, cause last night showed that we have no creativity. Hope there will be more news by the end of the day ;-).

    2. Carroll is overrated, I’ve said that a few times. If we have to rely on him, then it is a sad thing. 5I’ll support him, but he is CC level player, sorry cause lots on here think he will be the next Shearer).

    3. What about Arevalo??? He would strengthen our defensive midfield, cause Barton IMO still is a timebomb (yesterday he made another horrible tackle on Valeron).

    4. Tim Krul is a very good keeper and he could (maybe should) be our first choice the upcoming season.

    5. We need another striker, to be honnest I don’t know Djalo, but I hope we go for a proven Prem goalscorer.

    6. I think we will have a very strong defence ( Collo, Campbell, Enrique, Tavernier, Perch, Tavernier, …).

If we can buy/loan 3 good players (creative one, striker and winger) than we will be a mid-table team.
